Sure, OS X is has a friendly GUI, but deep down it's a Unix like kernel. So why not tap into that with GeekTook 3? It lets you display any image, text file or shell script/command output on your desktop. You can see photos, log files, even updating script processes right on your desktop without pulling up a terminal window, text editor or image viewer. (A small Warning for new users. GeekTool 3 is designed for serious geeks. It's at its best if you write and run a lot of scripts!)
