Tom emailed, "I want to be legal and use my Bluetooth enabled phone hands-free while I'm behind the wheel. My problem is that I have behind-the-ear hearing aids in both ears so any Bluetooth accessory that goes behind the ear or into the ear canal won't work for me. Hopefully you or one of your users will know of a solution." Hey, neither Patrick or Veronica like Bluetooth headsets, so we've got ideas from under $100 to credit card scorching for ya, Tom!
Mark's "looking for an informed opinion on the differences (pros/cons) between the lossless audio formats. Flac, Apple, WMA, etc. I've an Apple household with Linux servers. What is best for storage vs. playback vs. quali-tay?" We've got answers and talk FLAC, Apple Lossless, Monkey's Audio and when you shouldn't bother with lossless in the video! BTW, the HYDROGEN AUDIO LOSSLESS COMPRESSION is pretty awesome!
We've talked a lot about apps like Instagr.am, that allow you to add neat effects and filters to your photos. But now you can do something similar on the web? Check out this week's Website We Can't Get Enough Of: VintageJS!
"Any suggestions for a 'basic' printer? Most new printers have 5-6 ink cartridges & I NEVER print photos (who does?). All I need is 1-black & 1-tricolor cartridge as I only print occasionally. I do tend to scan quite a bit so an all-in-one is a necessity. Lastly I do want to print directly from my iPad so some type of Wifi would be a plus." Veronica's got a recommendation for Terry in Bridgeport CT: the HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One. BTW, Patrick prints photos all the time!
Peyton in Wisconsin wrote in asking if there "was a tweak or something that could increase my laptops native resolution." Boosting the resolution on an LCD screen? We explain what's possible in the video!
Last week we were helping Anthony with finding a DD-WRT VPN router for his VPN service. A bunch of Tekzilla viewers emailed back with alternatives, from modern routers to DIY options using old PCs. Thanks to Larry, Ken, Allan and everybody else that wrote in!
So several folks wrote asking, much like Rusty: "Why not recommend the actual official Google Voice app for the gentlemen looking for google voice on his iPod touch?" We explain in the video, and give you Ben's update on his first hand experience making phone calls after the tornados hit Alabama. Cell phones were down, but he was using the Talkatone app we reviewed!
Josh from Oregon wrote in, "In a past episode Patrick mentioned about getting a Gunnar representative on the show to talk about their digital eyewear. Is this still happening? I would really like to learn more about it." It's coming, Josh, along with Veronica's review. We promise!
