Darren Kitchen from Hak5 covers the highlights from this year's ShmooCon hacker convention including a new WPA cracking tool! We get feedback from the Tekzilla audience on the efficacy of DIY refill kits for your inkjet printer cartridges. SOPA didn't take down Tekzilla's website over the weekend but we explain why the results would be very similar. And we discuss which PC display connector is superior; DVI or VGA.

Even after 3 years have passed it seems "deleted" photos still live on Facebook according to this article from Ars Technica. The US Gov't along with the US military are rolling out Android based smartphones incorporating additional security measures to ensure sensitive date isn't compromised. In the run-up to the superbowl ICE aka Immigration and Customs Enforcement seized 307 domain names of which 16 were providing access to online streams of popular sporting events.
You might have noticed that the Tekzilla website was down over the past weekend. Although some clever comments suggested that SOPA might have been to blame, in truth it was a simple issue of DNS corruption. For those not in the know DNS or Domain Name Servers are the machines responsible for turning an IP address into something more intelligible like www.revision3.com. Much like a phone book. Unfortunately the listing for Tekzilla was corrupted and while our IT department was able to get it back up and running quickly, it takes awhile for it to propagate across all the other DNS servers around the globe. That said, this is very similar to what SOPA would do if enacted. If a site fell afoul of SOPA, BAM!, that DNS listing would get removed thereby rendering it inaccessible to most, if not all, users.
Our friend Darren Kitchen from Hak5 has recently returned from ShmooCon, and he's in studio to give us the low down on what took place at this years convention including new exploits to crack WPA security and bypass McAfee and Microsoft's White Listing function.
If you need a bit more humor in your life, check out Comically Vintage. Comically Vintage randomly takes a single panel out of a comic book or strip and posts it without any context and minor explanation. Hilarity will ensue as you try to extract meaning and substance from the limited dialogue and set scene in the panel.
So last week we had question question about getting a cheaper ink jet printer to help bring down the costs of printing. One of the suggestions we made was refilling your ink cartridges and asked you about your experiences with self re-filling ink cartridges. The response was huge.
Mynor in California suggested the Lamicii brand continuous ink system for his Epson Stylus 1400 printer. He found it very easy to install and very reliable.
Brian sent his two favorite sites for ink refillables; MeritLine.com and SuperMediaStore.
Edmund wanted to give us a heads-up on Inksystem.com's continuous ink supply system. However, he warns that the on Epson printers the cartridge chips that tell the printer how much ink is left in the cartridge makes them next to impossible to refill. HP printers are more straightforward but can still be a relatively messy process.
George is in a heated debate with physicians at his medical practice between VGA and DVI connectors. He currently connects his workstations with their VGA out to 27" LED monitors at 1920x1080. The physicians are adamant that using DVI would be a better option, but George would need to spring for new DVI out video cards. The quick answer is that under ideal conditions VGA should perform just as well as DVI, however, VGA RGB is susceptible to interference that could tweak color and sharpness. Not really an issue for most standard tasks; however for jobs where color and clarity count like Photo editing, video editing, CAD/CAM work or some medical applications it could be.
We got a couple of helpful emails from out viewers regarding LastPass. @TrivalyTravis noted that LastPass supports Google Authenticator and @Engrpiman adds LastPass Yubikey support and client side encryption make it a winner in his book.
Finally in regards to our Laptop DJ question last week @ParlayHelp suggested the Gigaport HD for aspiring MacBook DJ's.
