Tekzilla Live at @Web 2.0! Evan Williams, Twitter CEO, Are SSDs ready for prime time? Best 4x6 Photo Printer, Waterproof iPhone cases, TypeTester, Free Audio Editing Software.
We had a chance to do a rare live shoot from Web 2.0 Expo!
Twitter CEO Evan Williams, aka @Ev was kind enough to join Veronica for an interview using questions you sent in!
Patrick talks about the amazingly fast Intel X25-M, unlike some drives, and why it could slow down over time...
you might not see a slow down, tho, and, the slow downs are -only- on writes, not reads and only w/ heavy use...
... if you're seriously curious about Solid State Drive performance, check out Anand's epic write up: The SSD Anthology: Understanding SSDs and New Drives from OCZ
We challenged SquareSpace to show off their tools live, so a one of their guys in New York is editing a website of someone we picked in line who needed some major revamping of their website. Check it out at tekzillalive.squarespace.com!
The Website of the Week is: Typetester.org, which lets you choose from a list of fonts, from safe fonts that work on all OSes to Windows, Mac, and even Vista default fonts. You can then change how they appear in the column, by choosing which background color you want, the column width, whether or not the text is bold... the options are very customizable. Best of all, you can see three different fonts with various options selected at the same time!

Freebie Software Pick: You keep asking for a great audio editing program... it must be time to remind everybody about the amazing Audacity! It's free. It's open source. It runs on Windows, OS X and Linux. You can mix multiple tracks, edit audio w/ cut, copy and paste, apply digital effects, remove noise, convert your records or cassettes... and a whole lot more!
Are cheap HDMI cables safe? Interesting question, Jeremy. More often than not, you won't see a difference between the cheapest cable at MonoPrice.com (we own a lot of their low priced cables) and some platinum plated $400 thing from the audiophile shop... but if you want a great source of branded certified cables -they even have American made cables- check out BlueJeansCable.com. (Like MonoPrice, they've got just about every kind of AV cable under the sun!)
Sponsor Message: DynDNS.com: easy to use and extremely reliable DNS, email and domain registration services. A lot of you may have noticed that some of your favorite sites went offline for a while recently for hours at a time. DNS attacks effected the support behind sites from Amazon to Salesforce but not those powered by DYN Inc. UPTIME IS BOTTOM LINE!
Mark's shopping for a new 4x6 photo printer. Epson's PictureMate is our favorite. It's still the printer to beat according to our fave printer reviewer, PCMag.com's M. David Stone. He gave us a heads up on Canon's Selphy CP760 and 780, a low cost (and very compact) series for 4x6 dye sublimation printers.
Looking for a printer? Check out more of David's printer reviews.
How do you waterproof your iPhone? You could try a gallon ZipLock bag, @Tartalk, but we've got some better ideas for you in the show... and many of the companies have cases for iPods, too.

" Everybody welcome to Tekzilla lives here at web 2.0."
" Yes there's a lovely -- must still be sitting here in San Francisco California so happened I don't tonight."
" okay finish okay -- drives are they ready for primetime do you trust -- HDMI cables for -- interviews at employment at. Twitter I -- they'll be at an argument. Supporters of a nice classic Chianti and pass the fava -- because they're still alive from web 2.0 expo starts now."
" Tekzilla lot of web 2.0 is made possible by Squarespace. -- And dining. I'm better Norton I'm Veronica Belmont -- the Tekzilla hands on reviews of the latest technology and how to make the most of the gear you already own."
" Just -- your beginner our tech support for all of your friends and family if you've got a question about. Launching a start up faster computers digital cameras where the safest -- at the Las Vegas convention center indefinitely few things about that -- actually the most listeners well."
" I haven't figured out the food here yet it's pretty tame really get your thing you'll and then of those like nineteen dollar. Hot dog held frequently yeah. Now there's a story behind that after this afterwards they'll be -- is a Las Vegas convention center it's sketchy at sketching out we're here where people know you set."
" Last week -- north ads on it in an accident cynic is just coming up today in a mere few hours if you see we knew that for the first time. We're super excited about it."
" It's really say that it's tiny actually having people in front of us so we want to thank everybody can for coming out to watch this."
" Yeah -- at web two point so what's next will three point around the it'll talking about -- instantly totally -- already."
" I mean Bruce -- to its going to be the traditional web stabilizing the architecture and infrastructure of the web. And figuring out how to -- hosed on that caps and trying to download video and then. Then we figure out what went -- pointless I don't even want to get in fact hurt my brain to think about. Have a theme last night."
" I did have a thing with the big night last night that my presentation. I did not vomit onstage I didn't forget everything I want to Sam it's really it's about it for some reason. -- you have -- and hide behind I -- we messed up we can kind of rip off each other and deal with it its own. Seeing on -- time yeah. I was not I'm not feeling confident like right up until I got there and then suddenly it started talking it was -- and it's a good thing yeah I'm actually doing. Did you like envision the crowd and the theory in the worst thing you could tell people to do a concentration I would take. I tried to picture every one of unique difference. Between night and do work. Now it's it's not working for me I just -- my imaginations in the packet but if Squarespace is one of our sponsors today and they're doing something totally cool for the show of course the science sponsoring us which we really appreciate we challenged them to eight. Squarespace off I guess you could say exit found someone in the audience is going to get a whole new website today. Due to square space and it's gonna be -- tech live dot Squarespace dot com you can check up there from time to time. And it's -- all things in the audience. Taking out giving you today excited. Three guys in New York is actually going to be building her website in real time we're gonna check back with them throughout the -- today. They bring up via -- thing if if certain things yet. We're gonna do that from time to time that. About the effort they have really simple tools for building web -- probably I'll check it out in the past before and it's just really simple way it's like it's -- editing but way more advanced than. So far. Obviously they have to -- accurately. -- different question of the day. Aren't inspire them one we've actually got some questions on this one comes from Phil was asking about and since each."
" running and Patrick -- have Lenovo Y 510 laptop. And I was wondering if it was at all possible -- upgraded to. That's Steve Jobs I have -- to have it to hit hard drive and it. And out of my -- is the draft -- at least over hundred -- I've got about a 140 dollar price range cool. Also any information initiative about how SSD's work and -- what predominantly they would be. Used in other than just finding them in netbooks. Thanks thank you have a great job."
" Well thank you very much so you were giant on the screen -- nice headphones by the way I'm so -- they want to stay clear of SSD as a solid state disk drive which you guys are probably familiar with. A lot of products coming out these days but. -- treatment initiative could take a look at going to be."
" I've been having a lot of questions about assisted drives -- because the prices of kind of been dropping. But basically we're talking about is a hard -- from non volatile ram and flash memory like a camera basically when you turn the power off the stuff on it doesn't go away. Who or if you bang the thing while you're doing -- you need to worry right the data that's legally there's no he rotating media investments."
" Favorite thing to do whenever on that you've got something that the solid state drive or anything that's flash memory district hanging it on the table and I feel my Hartley. --"
" It's amazing like how sophisticated technology and says this is really is because the -- you look at right super simple it's just a bunch of memory chips uttered on there. And -- controller and the controllers really critical -- cheap drives a Jim micron drive controllers which are basically it's a Samsung memory which are being branded by like thirty -- vendors right now they're very very inexpensive. -- have some nasty problems and introducing lives interview image it's. It's -- hundred dollars on fifty or -- to drive to be superfast well when it's writing or when small applications on your system or or doing like quick little rights of the hard drive. We've seen things like lag of a second or three or four and stack up you have a few seconds later computer sort of pauses while it's doing something writing burgers slowly too hard drive. So the fabulous drive we're looking at right here which is the X when he five. And from Intel this is eighty gigabyte version in kind of crazy for me look at this and realized that the density of the memory on this. I'm rights like the -- it actually and it reads like the wind on steroids they are unbelievably fast. What early adopters have discovered. Is right performance issues that build up over time it's kind of -- because the way. That's. The memories essentially blocked out in Britain to the more use it and feel it more most of today's as if he drives actually start to slow down. And more -- let -- considerable -- they don't would you graceful job. Writing over Pristina. So what happens is right so you've got the controller in the controller talks to the memory and with have to do is this is a basically a block of being that. They have to copy the block of to a -- something right they can't just say it's a -- right ovary and actually have to copy it out. Make it disappear in the controller and then rewrite everything down on the effects of steps kind of slow things down. In some cases more than 50% as you drive it's filled out with kind of sketchy about -- kind of frustrating about that. Is that the only way to do -- to fix it is really actually two week. Secure reeks of your hard drive and start all over again. Sound weird yet it's actually put things are gonna get better -- trimmed commands being implemented both in the drives and an operating system we can expect that an expert analyst -- we can expect that windows seven. And what that'll actually do is it's even more graceful ability to that the performance won't degrade over time. That's -- also say that's right performance breed performance. Or going to be still continued to be ridiculously fast boot up times on a laptop or desktop with -- drive. Are ridiculous loading applications ridiculously fast and obviously people really want them in there yet -- laptops and everything it's just like. Well that if you're an environment to me your words loosely on -- and no I'm serious off through computer guy went -- that -- But here's a book. Yeah exactly but if you're a personal stories hard drive's -- state drive should outlast them. An -- is a great article talking about really the intricate details of what's going on the drive's slow downs. SanDisk has drives coming later this year the promise to avoid the slowdowns and writes over time. And we're actually hoping vendors can tweak firmware in the existing drive -- it would suck to be like 40500. Dollars for your eighty gigabyte hard drive. And the like but drive's slow again. We have to do secure format with this really we're utility in store all over again. But that's essentially what's happening if if you're filling up your drive and and and getting it passed. But after reading --"
" So now we're getting back to first particles question yes you can put a solid state drive into your idea -- Y 510 notebook computer from Lenovo. I'm really any computer with a two point five SATA drive there well we'll work right. And at worst he might need tension -- little bit of finding a hundred gigabyte SSD drive for a 140 dollars is going to be. Pretty close to impossible right now at least for the next six now I know a few years from now I might get to that point but -- may be looking at sixty to eighty gigabytes that you when a way discounted price."
" Yeah kind of super on sales mark and if the one of those drives use in the early -- micron controllers you can almost guarantee that -- gonna be frustrated with the performance of that drive. But you know what's amazing is people are saying in the next two years a lot of people are kind of like on the bleeding -- to say that SSTs are going to be. Pretty standard on even entry level notebooks and in the next two years."
" NASA still keep up hope you'll find something out of there."
" Oh my goodness yeah just."
" And they are superfast at least about the -- and the prices are gonna keep dropping down -- they always do after a by the would you violence like it but yeah thanks again lot of if you think it's a statistical thinking you'll find the thing your price range roughly where it can start that was something a little -- and and little lines smaller rather build up. So right erotica half. Happy -- them in a video question I need to do is record yourself in front of a camera asking a question no longer than fifteen seconds and an email it to us at Tekzilla at revision3.com. With big question in the subject line we'll check it out. And docile -- today."
" And maybe you'll be on our fabulous. -- we challenge Squarespace for to basically take someone's old site in refashion and we shiny new Squarespace site we're gonna check in right now to see what's coming along pics -- live dot Squarespace dot com. And refresh."
" Lou. You know it'll look and there. Like a nice. -- out still early we'll check it we'll check back in -- A little 0100 advancement one. They invented it you like. Your -- Well similar have to keep checking back -- that later but right now it's time for another web sites that we just can't get enough of let's say that we just can't stay away from beaten to useful funny -- just too darn irresistible and they would taking a look at cake tester. Dot org this is a really good one for all you people here at the web to -- that you've probably got your hand."
" website design and and working fine this is a great way to test. To test a bunch of different styles of look it YouTube from Connecticut there. -- And you can see them side by side it's just a great way to test them all at once and you can see having you looking different browsers by opening that up and died yet it's definitely an excellent place to try out. So that is type tester dot Ford. And -- President Clinton but for today and now we have the wonderful and Evan Williams from Twitter joining us here today as well."
" Thank you for -- today thanks for having me. So we should disbursement and then this is gonna beyond cold there report tonight he is I was just now reading this week he's in the green room just talked to Steve and well. Our editor here with us today nine New York right now I insisted that I tried various -- Veronica off and is that -- there. See you have personally been at the forefront of a lot of that went to plant technologies mean god blogger we had -- doing whole podcasting thing. Now we've got Twitter which is basically almost becoming synonymous with email and blocking these days and people thing we're doing the Twitter thing. And say it's grown huge too I mean celebrities are using all the time to directly connect with their fans. As well as just everyday people not even people who are tied directly -- the web communities. I mean I remember when I first started out of so -- thing to keep community thing now just blow -- The congratulations I'm thinking if we've we've been very fortunate see. Part of something that that is taken off so fast becoming likable little subculture in. So I'm on my first -- viewers how Twitter evolved from its original design I mean recently guys added people search function an instant replies. Vacancy -- and things that are connected to your name what else has changed."
" Of the product actually hasn't changed very little in the last couple years mostly because. The vast majority of our resources have had to going to just keeping up with groups -- what has changed quite a bit and where the product as changes in our how we think about it. And it at first and even if you have a home page at twit and now we still describe it as sort of a social networking type things stay in touch with friends and coworkers. And what we realized over time is that. It's it's really about keeping up with what's happening in the world right now among things you care. And so part of that is your friends your family -- co workers but part of it may be what people are saying about. A big event about web two we're -- experts going on war or it. A summit or a Super Bowl. And so we're trying to build dot aspect in the product more and that's where we're we're testing the search. As more integral part of the product and devolution will be more along those lines. How people been responding to having search built into replies has been mostly positive. It's been the vast majorities and positive yes. I was always kind of confusing I think it's still -- little confusing how replies work. It's one of going back tears your previous question how the product has evolved ways to house chains have mostly been user driven that's a whole concept of replies was -- and the product of first. And users wanted wanted to way to address someone else so someone just started doing that out. Apt symbol in the username. And it never occurred to us so people start doing in so we said well that's that signifies -- user let's make that link to the user and then. How do we make these work in the product so. It's continuously evolving what we're trying to do -- to support what people are apparently trying to do."
" surprise for the way that people are using Twitter I mean other than just communicating and sending messages back and forth he surprised at the way. People living using -- as a promotional tool and things like that work constantly surprised and and."
" It's it's amazing every day we see uses that surprises from. The businesses have been using a lot which isn't terribly surprising -- how they're using it as little surprising from. Dole and embracing the very early on this send deals and Twitter only coupons and we're little businesses. Just became aware -- one. Guarantee -- Cisco it's a spy and it houses slot open on their massage really table says they'll they'll say you know Colin look right now for the 3 o'clock near get thirty dollars off. And it makes --"
" This and that went me later I would think that's -- of we had some questions from on the actual Twitter users as well because he thought that would be appropriate. And this is especially good for people here at the web 2.0 expo and Josh that's wants to know any recommendations for people trying to start tech startups who has obviously a lot of experience about."
" Well that's that's a big topic thought it. I think that the court thing we just be do something awesome I mean and track. It's -- don't suck dungeons and you know I mean try not to get caught up in in the echo chamber in I think it's. And that's probably the toughest thing when you're trying to break out and do something. Original it. A lot of things are evolutionary. And and it's easy to get product in one. The geek subculture things -- that there's lots of vital businesses like me built they're better -- and that's where a lot of people attendance spin wheels and I've been caught up their before. And when you have more successful things when I just -- back to basics what do I want what do I want to see in the world encrypt."
" interesting especially when you get caught up -- that echo chamber because they're kind of here early core audience in a way to keep sent -- you know you also have to kind of make things for the mainstream audience as well who might not have the same needs and desires this hardcourt technique."
" Yet that's tricky and move we definitely saw that with blogger for a long time that there early bloggers were core audience and we just really wanted to create the product for them and they were us. And there's a point which we had to say okay we can't necessarily serve them as well as someone else but there's a very big audience of mainstream users."
" We'll answer them so the next question is from -- town and BP. I don't know what are some -- that sounds delightful. What's your opinion on the new FaceBook and their redesign. Today redesigned home."
" Look at yes. So let's have a."
" And Facebook's. Is great I mean I had I don't. I -- I use FaceBook and lots of friends and -- but I hate it makes a lot of sense me what they didn't. And I don't know if what I don't I'm not a hardcore FaceBook users but. I am very impressed -- philosophy did we wanna but they've they've got a bunch of stuff that we want to do has been on our road maps -- that's great."
" Is that something you would want to kind of -- more towards the next question was from Al gone -- is Spanish for them gone. And hit with this do you see Twitter becoming a platform like it's."
" Well it depends on the definition of a platform yeah let it. And we have hundreds possibly thousands of developers who build on Twitter today. So by some people's definition -- would be a platform we have companies that are getting funded that are based on twitters stock twits raised money in entirely votes on Twitter there's. Several other companies that are both building products exclusively for Twitter and and building actual business is doing so. We a lot of has been really just. Organic and and we haven't done a lot to -- other than putting the API out there very early answering people's questions we have done a lot to. -- support as much as we'd like to but that's one of initiatives internally. To help both developers and users to mention the ecosystem."
" I'm I'm just wondering with so many people building off the API especially building businesses around that what to be done without the rate limit and that they're calling to the API so much and that kind of getting blocked after a little while."
" It's something and were continually trying to increase and it's it's been tricky because. When you don't have control over the interfaces and then. Just computers making enormous amounts of requests. And if it was unlimited -- there's no way we can survive and so. We're trying to get more intelligent about that but. And we're training Chris capacity overall there has to be some sort of rate limit or else. You know just -- scripts can take our server down but. It's something we've increased a couple times and planning Chris -- may be more sophisticated about."
" Would be something that maybe you could work specifically with a specific company and then kind of let them have free range for the rate limit while limiting -- telling you I'm I'm totally."
" We have done that actually we've -- we've had a white list in there's not technically a wireless there's just different levels and what we. Did have was your they're limited. Let you know this much or you get whatever you want. And those and we're pretty liberal about giving putting people on a white list -- then some of those caused problems we have to get a little bit more. Sophisticated and there are a PI team is still just two developers now there's one -- supporting them in turn answered questions. It's it's a big project to support these thousands of other developers and there were --"
" So the next one is from. User names -- so impossible to say tickle our land your. Of course any future support for images or video -- I've seen some kind of mashups of that the past but never anything officially sanctioned."
" Yeah I think we should support images or video better than we do today in the doesn't necessarily mean we want to host them we mind if we think that's the best thing. For users there's so many places to host your images and video though I don't know if people want to -- wondered just a better. Better integration like viewing in line may be -- in mind. Twit -- it's gotten really popular it seems to be a leader right now but I think there's other companies that offer similar functionality. Obviously I don't necessarily want to get in competition with YouTube and save for your videos on Twitter instead. But Twitter is really just a it's like. Lubricant for for web content and so we can make it more efficient and make it faster to view things. I'd like that as a users will think about that."
" Here's a question that's very relevant my interests you stone says -- Simon monetize based on a -- Twitter following."
" I don't know peace track. You want want to sponsor Monica's Twitter him. I don't know we we would support people -- do that and there are people doing that. And -- world for if fate is long as people build a following days and are delivering value to those those people that keep -- them in -- Build the business out of that dislike people build the business is out of blogging. Back in the days seem like blasphemy. And then you realize wait this is just publishing and can be done professionally as well as. Casually and there's an informal."
" in our last question of the day of course is from wonder bar or -- the work. And he wants no business model. Now I know we've we've heard a lot recently about except leads with Microsoft or any other big companies going to help you -- that -- smaller work towards that are when he got thinking for the future."
" We're -- spending a ton of time and -- now were were focusing much more on delivering more user value and and growth but we are doing some experiments exactly it's with with. Federated media. And Microsoft as one of those. It's an experiment there may be more like that we don't think that's the holy Grail and we have a lot of other ideas but they come secondary right now to you too. Still it's more product features. And and just trying to support the use of this we have right now so what's next the best. Bigger better more. -- To mean more characters themselves."
" Hot hot hot hot hot hot hot up. It asked them alive that's just just ten to mark characters but it was based off text messaging I it was this of Texas yet been -- how these sort of."
" On obvious. Complimentary effects on the web and we like."
" Well thank you so much for joining us here today this so I would power especially."
" I feel very personally invested in Twitter for some reasons I'm really looking forward to seeing how you guys grow and change in the near future to thank you so much for Monica for joining us. And I if you don't already know you can followed and on Twitter at at and and Evan Williams that's."
" Hopefully -- triggering that during during the interview got some good promotion out there I'm gonna take the time now to thank one of today's sponsors of the -- fly. Game play is the largest."
" Online video game rental service it offers you -- place. 6000 Buick classic titles across all consoles and hand counts but plans starting at 1595 a month in -- members can -- one. Working at a time can keep them as -- tonight and there are no late fees and you can even. -- So once you're done playing a game invented back in game -- we'll send you the next available title on your list. And Tekzilla fans get a two week free trial ended go to games like dot com. So left some restrictions apply see site for details for us by supporting our sponsors. Rent check back in with Squarespace I think."
" Yes we are has a -- doing that there have -- renewable country. --"
" Gonna hit the data over fresh."
" And the thing to do with him here. If the column have a twit and we've -- module."
" Then -- the good stuff I'm really glad she didn't -- while Tekzilla really sucks very now. I think that would be so embarrassing -- totally now."
" No actually that's perfect because it so rarely when people post on forms a Twitter can actually went into the audience and grab but that looks. Hideous. Violent oh yeah like you've never had that --"
" Yeah all and a important that it. -- excitable. -- we our next question comes room. Actually as we want to be the freebie. Yeah and defeated Allen. Let's do that list -- well in this week's freebie download pick a free program we find useful fun or incredibly interesting this week eighth freebie download classic. Join me if you know like audacity we need to get a ton of questions lately for people looking get a good tools for editing or recording audio and the answer is always the same -- need day or night drunk or sober -- I drink -- you get the idea its audacity. It's free. It's open source -- runs on windows it runs and it was -- it runs on limit you can mix multiple tracks edit audio with cut copy and paste applicable facts. Remove noise conversion record -- in the nineties killers to audio -- ability to present normalization -- of it retractable treatment have a record sixteen channels of audio simultaneously you have the right software or even hardware of the night. Thankfully you -- groups weighed eighty MP3 files Ogg Vorbis it'd be the one that freedom to -- it's got black support reducing you have to do over the Lehman who -- Bruins you know might ask people. That's the one violent response it doesn't have -- head just yeah. If not -- I -- just. -- high dollar audio editors describe it there's -- squarely unit which is weird if you spent a lot of time working with audio files and real time effects that would be nice. But it's ideally for years about it now. I don't think -- a professional uses instead of spending dollars. On high end audio tools in any case it deliberate audio editing tool. For digitize -- audio -- burning. Audio editing because -- the cuts the time things people splitting up that monster value download from your favorite band's website it straight to audacity at SourceForge. Dot net it Franken rocks people think. Right next we've got to silence the got a question from --"
" He says I have seem cheap H in my cubicle all over in the net that's saving our one got three category -- compliant which as you know is full 1080. I these cables to be trust. Obviously paying a hundred dollars plus from monster cable HDMI accord is ridiculous but there is they have seen is there a happy medium between the two. In terms of performance for this price. Well now we've -- we've we've sent some things."
" Monster cables in the past but must people like to sue people they like to overcharge people for copper those two things together me and I'm really down on monster cable although -- actually have. It monster power came we've received about something ridiculous is looking for this beard and they needed to plug welder injury to 120 volt socket. The ultimate prize -- familiar with Fries cooked up. It's like we're geeks go to spend their entire allowance be anywhere from -- bizarre forms of beef -- to home appliances like they're -- It's good that's why more secure money isn't right I have that's right up the -- they say that'll do it. Have waited in line. Certainly you're burning crusade to think of Soviet Baltic commercial or something unpleasant the six but it did it. In any case it actually -- people even makes these giant cables that are cool depleted because your dryer needs gold plated connections. Yet it's pretty scared the point is -- cheap cables. Robert heron is our army guy. Free few TV he's done a ton of testing with expensive cables and keep cables and -- always been the -- up until about a week ago. By the cheapest cable you can find if it's 125 feet it's not gonna make a difference what's interesting is in the last week -- He's actually found the cases where one cases where if this particular brand of monitor and more revealing is the review has been posted yet actually. Using a cheap cable the classic model price in this or we go all the time model priced dot com read cheap peoples who were cheap cables and -- cheap you're gonna get. Actually made -- Issues with the monitor worse. The issues were there with high end cables they're there with cheap cables I gotta yes -- I'd have a mixture of no brand cables and -- price cables. And one expensive cable and bought a particularly weird weekend being politically hundred dollars for for twelfth with cable don't want to talk about this story it's cut coming out on the shelf. But I bring it up because I can't see the difference 720 1080. Now if you are worried -- if you think there's something wrong with the -- when you bought a nice if a deal with branded cables and I guess they've favorite source that is played a site called blue jeans T yes dot com. I've heard you talking about a lot they have briefed cables -- than any kind of you Mitchell cable in there is there eighteen months it's pretty crazy because they start. With the United States -- held an -- in my cables it's nine bucks for one foot cable it's like 46 bucks for 25 foot cable. These are bad -- cables to be a hundred but he he in my cable hand that's bizarre but they actually have those in stock and the prices are amazing. About it that and -- and they are basically they are certified and tested and they -- do the job so if you want -- cheap cable you don't want to deal with some sort of I don't know what the sources I don't know if it was -- just printed it on the box its replied because we printed about. Box. It's nice have an alternative to into monster yes well there yeah. Yeah alternatives to the monster and there's like a half dozen alternatives of the monster alone blue jeans cable icons model priced dot com for super cheaper blue jeans cable if you really want to make sure it's absolutely positively. To spend."

A lot of you may have -- some excitement. Recently for our. And a tax effective support behind it and the scientists sales force but not as part I'd find it a time line. I take pride in keeping it personal relationship with their patients and even today that many of them I've heard something. That. Their support team entertained close links to every other department and the company meaning one of its members is actually it's -- to take action -- And an effort to speed line and gas -- C dot com more about how -- system. I think we have to check back with."

Apollo. Look at that it. Very nice very nice worry we have one more check in with them at the end of the show --"
" Believe that's actually move pretty quickly for like 25 minutes and -- what I'm hoping is that they can rebuild the site and a half an hour I think it is Wednesday basin of their people can do and a half an car."
" That's pretty fast that's not the end so we take me for years to finish building my website which stuff built yet."
" For personal website of yours this young man the we'll talk about that later on a popular question."
" Yet I think it's time for another favorite that's a marker right then. I've been shopping around for a new photo printer can you guys do a rundown of it if you're top picks for four by six prints. With the exception of wireless connectivity it's seems to have been many advances over the past several years but -- that's claimed that there and the apps and that's been floating around here and see."
" Actually picture mate. And we're gonna pick up over here because we can't put it on the Elmo looks to the water glass. Yeah this is a nice printer nice photo printer by the it's actually an amazing photo printer and the practical personal photo labs now if you're looking at the category of products to of the fire hit the print but it's quite frankly nobody has a stopwatch to should take about 37 seconds they're stupid fast actually these days. The market right to have that a lot of changes in the last two or three years in photo printers. But it's kind of amazing though because they've gotten smaller we'll talk I can himself he's become a minister -- about half the size of one of those little tiny boxes of tissues used to find that the back let's go to grandma's house -- literally that small like five inches by five inches by three inches. And most of them optional battery packs which I also find really amusing because I guess you can go to a fielder subway car and have a photo printing."
" You think you human I mean you're out. You're out about taking the -- conference sent me an attempt to okay -- all the time went into print pictures at Bay Area have in the desert without power source but if I have my battery totally screw."
" And dragged --"
" I don't how battery packs this is the absence picture mates dash I think the bomb -- under a 140 bucks online. Four by six prints are basically all it does it -- fast and they are gorgeous I think actually probably -- some of them there and NS the does seem too which is the same printer but with the CD burner built right into it right in the if you have put Ralph of these basically you can slide and memory disk into their memory is yours -- caller here. As you currency card in front they've got to LCD screens I'll expect my son's achievements. Of the lovely head. Thank you. -- very hard on that that would be my dog that's probably not the best."
" I'm not running under those examples of really clear photo -- and I'll find the --"
" Not really sure how or why printed the -- apologist my dog. But it's amazing actually the the quality on these both the the dash. And museum had LCD screens that you basic photo editing red eye removal cropping and they've got an optional Bluetooth adapter going to play it directly from your phone or your."
" Welcome your right hand them except for example the use of Bluetooth adapter for I never used photo printers I -- even that like a camera and a phone etiquette. -- excuse for that."
" The printer all the time. I I can do a piece he -- most excellent. Printer editor mixed together these printers for them but that's really good -- the colors are actually shockingly saturated with an inkjet and that was inkjet print those are about 37 seconds -- stuffy image outstanding get off they are waterproof. It's interesting candid about what they called self be missing piece of 67 EB. And they're isolation photo printers and -- actually almost about half the size the -- some -- looking at there. Photo call these great they take longer about ten to twenty seconds longer. Then the picture me to print and the more expensive and basically buy a big package for idol -- with -- Cartridge and east act of a photo paper so it's like 55 bucks for 270 -- that's gonna be up twenty cents a print. And hundred packs come out for a 223 cents a prince. The -- these steps can be a few cents more for print. It was interesting is David put it out that the Canon has one. Minor -- of its drivers and if you have like spokes on wheel or something or certain straight line to be pretty from a computer. A lot of times those lines and the jagged. A little bit ragged if you're pretty directly from a memory card doesn't happen at all interesting yet. Well we've got another picture that happened really fast -- They moved quickly this. By president prince -- the only option David stone PC mag dot com to -- for reprint reviews for some good stuff coming out we'll have links to that in the show. Yet one more question."
" Of them from our question today this is an interesting one it's on hard -- your call Peter talked -- talk you know long discussion about his username for music and -- cooking he's asking us to somehow managing to water damage my iPhone three machine. You've had some experience with water damage I've I have half ruled damage and amateur original iPhone. He subsequently had to buy another one he's looking for a good case for the phone that will prevent want to I'm getting into the his suggestion."
" Actually there are a number of them out there. The strangest one I've ever seen it because the -- pack. And what is essentially is a sort of nautical grades. -- basically talking your plastic you're talking through plastic actually constructed to yourself you can talk through its bizarre basically sealed plastic and hold it up to the side of your head -- ought to do the one of the iPod or the iPhone instead. You see literally it's what's really does it actually works what causes the flock okay I'd like to point out."
" And weirdest thing I have no of those blood collecting bags when -- guess. Like hitting you feature that I think you're not."
" Not they they are really waterproof and the book much cooler than -- clock. You know gallon freezer bag with duct tape over the -- is on it could do that I've done that. It looks really you feed him I love you yeah go the fire around a well you know -- very clever it's very cheap is what it is our. Otter box makes amazing waterproof iPod cases they do you the iPhone three G iPhone cases they are not waterproof up iPhone cases."
" Aren't waterproof for the iPod ones are. Let me know when they do that."
" That's what promised what they did one at one point you basically these people into expected to it because I mean it's a waterproof you could actually hear any sound through it and yeah. Well that's a good reason for not doing that. The folks at its pockets solutions also offer -- got two different versions 150 bucks one for a hundred bucks. And the -- the hundred dollar case which makes your iPhone about the size of with that long lost Apple PDA it is about the size of how's it. That's the one if they do it looks like -- about the size of the -- with -- 110 bucks but it also allows you sort of on the strap it and plug it in you have to assemble the entire thing because it. And -- and hand them our acoustical water -- one right that's faith like the super 110 dollar water tight one. And -- want to -- one last thing we go golden shield that we show them off right the guys pouring a pitcher of water on his notebook he's throwing his. Basically made you sick water proof coatings for electronic. It's the basically -- a vacuum chamber the DC Cassius polymer it covers all basically if you -- a few microns over all the surfaces. I had an iPod underwater for about fifteen hours with no problems. They've put stuff underwater Google -- yes while so I don't know what the current prices for an iPhone but I know the do you blackberries for about a 120 box that's crazy yet fifteen now yeah and does things you can you can put -- underwater cameras and stuff and actually waterproof. They don't work yet they don't want to do that -- possibly mostly it's like one meter for thirty minutes is the waterproof penis -- this is different of the basically called the -- it's pretty amazing technology in its its pretty slick it's also kind of pricey on the island. So we're actually running on a show."
" We are running ads and that's our final time to check in on the announcement site. Well this isn't a little you -- Steve Jobs quotation in there designed not just what it looks like design is how it works. You can feel that speaks to you."
" Now think let's put on the cool latency what happens. Human single -- looks like. Everything. That Texas from Dreamweaver template. -- hello -- is right. Latin of tunes it's got stuff. Not bad check back in a little town in the -- they decide to do improve the site. And the best part is that even if you don't have a background in -- you can just make what's it like this in relatively short time. Even I've been terrified -- see that's you should use its web site I let me do these images we will give you just -- FaceBook."
" No the thank you -- that. Facebook's scary I mean into the Internet kicking and screaming oh yes and you like oh with the entire well Veronica in the 32 ways to connect -- in a moment and you never know which ones that Twitter is that the guy and I know -- every email accounts to cell phone."

I totally agree about the crowd.
The crowd response is totally different from other live show like Diggnation and TRS, but never the less I still like it a lot! Great show!

I attended this taping and the crowd was very laid back. Plus the attendance seemed low, but I think that's because it was in such a huge room. You really can't tell with the camera work though.
The laid back atmosphere made for a really great meet-up though. It was actually easy to just walk up and start chatting it up with the Rev3 folk.
I'm sure there are more tekzilla fans in the bay area. Maybe it should of been announced a little more in advance?
Should I post my pic w/Veronica? hmmm...I think not. I look like such a dork/fanboy in it.
It was a great time though, and I can't wait for more live Rev3 shows. Thanks!

Awesome episode, very informative as usual. I can't wait for SSD technology to mature further, it's still too early for me to buy. The interview with Evan Williams was cool too! I missed not seeing the outtakes in this episode :( But I understand you were not in studio this time. Keep up the good work guys!~Ryan~
