Hacker movies make me want to scream. Most scriptwriters seem to take what they know of computers from other scriptwriters who saw bad 1970s movies.

However, every so often a movie comes along that gets things right. And that is so rare it probably deserves its own Oscar category.

While I am not a member of the motion picture academy, I can do something. I can create a top 5!

And that's just what I've done. Combining the suggestions of folks on Twitter and Facebook, with my own long-suffering quest to watch good, realistic, and exciting computer movies, I believe I have come up with five hacker movies that aren't totally worthless..
