It's almost halloween and we thought, maybe just maybe we could land that big candy company sponsorship if we pandered to the holiday and did a themed top 5. Turns out GoToMeeting can go toe to toe with the candy cartel.

But we decided to do the "scary tech" thing anyway. And I asked y'all on the Internet for ideas. This isn't a vote though. Of your excellent ideas I picked the ones that scared me most. These are potential for frightening uses, more than scary in and of themselves.

For instance, and I'm breaking rule 3 of the Top 5 by giving one away, but genetic manipulation is on the list. I for one think great things can come from it. But great things come from jumping out of a plane too. Doesn't mean it isn't scary.

Despite all this fright, I hope you won't be scared to click on discussions at Tom's Top 5 to find the stupid trivia question thread for a chance to win the Google pen I stole from Google. Who knows what secrets lie within its inky depths!
