Winter is for Oscars, summer is for monsters. Summer movies may be good or more likely may suck. But they're always attempts at blockbusters. Well, mostly anyway.

With summer winding down we asked the fine folks of Internetland to tell us what were the favorite explosive, action-packed effects-laden movies during the past three months.

No, Piranha 3-D did not make the cut. But some good honest scifi, comic book awesome did. We'll count them down.
