Well, I suppose the point is that he felt as if the controls were obstructing him from playing the game - he couldn't get into them, couldn't get them to work, and so it's not hard to extrapolate that this prevented him from enjoying the game. If he played it with a GC controller, which they said they didn't do and didn't have available, I do believe things might be different. If he still says, oh, well I prefer my fighting games to have the health meter and I can't get into the 'kick off the edge' thing, then that's okay. I can accept that. But I feel like dismissing the game based on the controls when there are so many ways to change that (both in terms of button mapping and different controllers altogether) is a little premature.
It's not about hating on Alex, more a desire to see them spend more time with the game and possibly even revisit it later on.

Yeah, I'm sure this has been stated before, but I kinda consiter Alex, Dan, and Jeff as friends. Even though they don't know who I am. I feel like the things they discuss and how they review things are just like listening to it from friends. So, just like friends I don't take what they say as gospel, but I trust they tell the truth, and it's good to have a diverse array of opinion.

I don't get where all the hate is coming from for Alex. He gave the game exactly the same chance he gives every other game the guys discuss. Maybe if the game has to be played with a gamecube controller to be any good it should come with one or at least say it on the box or something. I totally agree with Alex's point of view on the Wii. The Wii is in the same market as the 360 and the PS3 and therefore shouldn't escape comparison. It's not as though Alex hasn't said that the Wii is good at what it does. Not everyone loves Smash Brothers. Get over it. Do you really think that if Alex felt that a gamecube controller would change his opinion on the game that he wouldn't have tried it?
If your looking for a show that only offers opinions that are aligned with your own then your going to have an extremely difficult time finding one, because everyone is different. I think it's been said a thousand times before but the show is three guys giving you their opinions and discussing movies, games,tv and comics and stuff. I don't think they're trying to give you same sort of coverage and depth you'd get on something like a 1up review. I think the guys offer something different in that they usually talk about games within the context of their personalities and experiences.

that was my point. if "you should use the cables that come with the system", then ps3 is at a disadvantage too.

Okay, so how come you don't review Xbox 360 and PS3 games based on their composite cables?
I understand where everyone is coming from in this, but I feel like the game deserves a second look a little later on. The game is meant to be played with four people, on a couch, using GC controllers, playing multiplayer (and probably stock battle). The fact that the game wasn't reviewed like that reflects the hosts lack of familiarity with the series (though Jeff seems to have played a bit). I think this might be the first game which deserves a relook in another episode, once you've all had a chance to get the hand of controls and using GC controllers. They're cheap now.

so they mentioned it on SNL, but apparently three Brooklyn men have taken it upon themselves to make the "Brooklyn Ghost Investigations". It's a Ghost Busting company.
no bad commercial yet.

that movie just seemed like super generic dreck for the longest time. I didn't even know what it was about, other than that it was an "epic film".
epicly crap.

Seems as though 10,000 B.C. was tacked on because "it looked cool"...

I haven't seen the movie, but i was thinking this movie was supposed to be showing how civilization formed (read the wiki). Did they convey that idea or just throw it out?"
That's what I thought too!

after watching 50 episodes, this was the ep that motivated me to get on the forums. great show.
first - i'm glad to see jeff's post. i don't think this is a show about three guys who present themselves like siskel and ebert. they don't sit there and spew their learned opinions at us as gospel.
it's much better than that. we have three guys who give their honest opinions and argue as friends. the tone of the show is real; that's what draws us in and that's what keeps me coming back. this is how my real friends talk about things; we hurt each other's feelings sometimes, we disagree...and it's ok.
entertainment - games, movies, tv are only good if you, personally, like the experience. kudos for being real and honest about your opinions.
More importantly: how did you end up watching he whole Raiders Adaptation? is there a link somewhere? i was cracking up during just the clips on the show!
