Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 running time 55:29
Is CJ7 better than Leonard Part 6? Does Dark Sector get derivative right? Scott Pilgrim and Supreme Power: two more comics you'll be glad you read.
This week in Movies:
Alex, Dan and Jeff loved Stephen Chow's last two action-comedies, Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. His newest, CJ7 is a much different kind of movie. Does it disappoint?
The guys discuss the economy of going to the movies in the light of a recent article about proposed high-end luxury movie theaters. How much is too much?
This week in Video Games:
One of the very first "next-gen" games to ever be announced was Digital Extremes' Dark Sector. Now, four years later, Alex, Dan, and Jeff are surprised by the PS3 version.
This week in Comics:
Brian Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim is a mix of relationship drama and video game action. How does he pull it off?
J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Frank's Supreme Power examines what might happen if characters like Superman and the Justice League appeared in the real world. The guys are blown away!

" That Soledad throughout and it ended its got rest other everywhere aren't getting high so Jake -- nineties also had many I have ten. I -- I can."
" And I and that means I got was an -- yeah let's deregulate."
" This would you move means we're talking about us he -- sat and touring is set to -- the Leonard part six oh I do all your partner -- Brian Farrell movie. Any ballerina shoes I mean I think kid you're like us he's okay he said Dana beings. On come down. I mean by a prolific Hong Kong film director comedy director Steve -- Cowell -- hate international. Acclaim. We shall in soccer. And then I'm. Can claim -- win convoy hot soul. And now he has me CJ seven. She trophy art -- Us who did this sports films shown soccer spears in the calm cool movie you could say -- our Brothers come from moving we've come hustle. And now sort of does this how fancy he he he genre proceedings seven in about a poor family. Farm father designed -- can't afford to get anything for -- me -- assignment armed men. And so he finds him at a news for me to be like audio that can't with a neat toys but it's not actually toy it is an alien. That's the music I."
" Didn't hilarity ensued after an act or one huge. Huge Stephen chuck I love selling soccer and I love -- even more I. I love is sort of Warner Bros. cartoon asks -- action. Antics. If you had his tongue fu hustle it's definitely worth renting. -- on the other hand. It was a major disappointments time you've been talking about a prolonged and any kept wanting us to see -- in. After half what I can do I mean I know why because Stephen chow is movies are worth it always worth attention. But boy -- this really not doing it really thought he was phoning in vain most of the time he's really mean in the movies -- night they want to really great child actor. The big kid who plays the lead is is very good. Other but what is doing its."
" It's just ripping off ET and there's like six cents a rips up a little bit even might references his own you read there's a moment where -- the kid doesn't exactly muscle thing with Jonathan Byrd. "
" The logic of the movie doesn't hold together. You know we talk about science fiction movies having to have rules to make them and there's no it doesn't nothing makes sense it's. Pandering and sentimental and I was very disappointed by it."
" I was I was very concise yeah. Yeah."
" Yeah I'm gonna say that I also meant an amazing -- and -- conference I don't Graham one of the things that I think. Really failed in CJ seven is what actually light very much about how uncomfortable muscle which lets come because war is like. This non realistic world were in his life sort of like evening but the sixties and seventies China and it's like not really uneasily. Clearly -- in this fantasy world. And all these fantastic things happen and it's and it's amazing it makes sense food and here you're a world that is. So real world it is all it is real. So when he's. Fantastical. Crazy things happen. Then he's sort of he is you know thinking as percent of the Warner Bros. scrutiny stamp and easy thing eight completely doesn't make sense totally incorrect. I actually has moved it was quite disturbing. There are some yeah square I was quite child abuse I got this yeah this little dog he wanted to do one thing. It doesn't do that because a dog he hates it up. It doesn't do it again deep water ports -- Do it again he shows that -- a backing beaten with fruit and broke it and garbage."
" What do and other -- what do you."
" I'll -- that closet what do you look like I need to understand what does not cross cultural a lot of cold I don't think that there's an ounce that is his cultural but the dogs -- I struggled to Macs are dogs and all was well over all of us really did not like his million on that Ito only was he was off by there were moments that we're kind of funny but it. Species was right -- wrong time for this guy's talent to be treated me well it I -- For me to say I'm Afghanistan shall -- having seen. Some in the movies from the majority of his courier was all earlier Hong Kong stuff that was before he -- sort of broke through."
" Act parent I mean I've kind of gotten gamblers kind of hungry. We didn't mention any of those -- gain -- and a Carol though I always and that's -- there today are liked by many in a you know many people when I just don't get that sense of humor is very likely embrace the last. The old and other confident Hong Kong film the way how does sort of a Joe give me. -- you know but this was like it was -- just was not quite there were however some. -- that -- almost worth watching I think for a couple moments I mean you know renting it works YouTube -- high post the punishment with the movie but there were definitely some. Genuine and it's -- of genre is that you know -- that you go -- could -- that he played pretty upon that I thought or hysterical. Also. These movies are genuinely not known for good see you work and I didn't think this EG alien was -- and -- on the sign into really really smart and clever but ultimately it's a really made for kids it's really. A young. That's agents. God he's not doing -- right away we should say that yes. Al is an answer him right now what we them how I am not -- immigrants now so we're seeing is an an an awkward time so they're meeting some alarming news that we are not reporting -- Speaking about because I'm in Atlanta is nothing. But its not and I actually -- have. Atlanta diseases. Are talking about. So what we are talking hasn't been buried just saying that I wouldn't you know garner Ernestine conversation. I don't know exactly that. Index. In reporting it you know we never talked about the show is that apparently moviegoing is in recession that has been happening it has economy is an arsonist five years is that heaters -- ticket sales have dropped the bomb. Angry at the united I have my gold mine for awhile and there was this news about Peter chains now raising their prices and -- and raising raising a lot of injuries. Of the theater going experience. Like having arm chair isn't there you know -- rest and concierge service in and that CG and want -- to combat. No luxurious home -- is that many of us are now hiring. None that evening Tribune back to declining ticket sales. What do you guys think of this in general what do you what do you think god do you think we are in this -- do you think what you think what's all this -- that -- think this is a solution to -- play well we should be very."
" Clear that this you know one of the things that. Mean you read outlet in the article which I agree with is that the entertainment industry is sort of yeah economy improves you know was first for a large. Part I mean like. You know in during the depression and Hollywood was one the only place where there were jobs and those jobs stay plentiful -- I think actually just met somebody who -- carpenter whose father was a carpenter. -- like Ohio and he literally moved. To Hollywood to become carbon near during the depression diseases. No matter what's gonna happen everybody's gonna need to see on the -- and a keyboard that and it worked so he works making backdrops heard Disney and end tossing him balance up at any that is true is we should separate those youth which Saddam Hussein is. I I agree wholeheartedly that I think home -- have a lot to do that might that is somebody who doesn't like to get -- in the movies. But he went to see movies because he loves movies he hates the experience of going to a theater not being able to you know. Just controlling your environment that he's just. Very best he just never elected from what I remember as a kid we went -- Tons of movies we might add he's never been two years since he is his TV and even remotely caught up he just stopped gone. The six girls waiting for it on dvd easy and -- well okay that's gotten a lot shorter than he used to being no more most -- that sounds like a month after they're crazy six months the minimum now do you think. That it. What they're just plan of action will counter when I was a winner really Allah single that single thing -- thinking was when this caught my dad to go to the theater and a lot of artists now. I don't know there is anything and it's anything. Getting harder and harder to get him back in the as the TV's the guy and he's got -- got. We haven't and -- pioneer elite plasma TV and in the end of the day. My -- I was sitting Elliott does that right so you can't get -- was supposedly five years old now he just got the -- months -- But you know I mean like aesthetic experience. When when it's just you and you've got here. I you know bottle wine that cost you ten dollars rather than that glass of wine it's gonna cost you thirteen or fourteen. And you can posit you go to Italy -- an upstairs and eats on you mean like. It's hard to break -- that brings to break against that yeah."
" I was really complicated subject and there's a whole lot of tangential. I mean economics -- it. That thing you're not bringing up is that. Ticket prices even accounting for inflation are already going up I mean."
" I think it was possibly -- I think 130%. Higher even accounting for inflation."
" Then like five years ago it's ridiculous how are we getting 30% better movies no -- what are what are we paying for exactly and it. There is something to be said about the idea of Pena. A luxury price for a luxury experience and I am always one of those people that. It's worth it for me to pay a little extra money if I can ensure that people will ask the -- when I'm sitting next to them you know that experience to me. And it and I think all these things are related in the sense that as. Movies come out earlier on dvd and as people get more. More common experience into -- watching at home."
" They do feel like they are home when they're out and then I talk in the movie -- anything -- cellphones and all that crap that. Makes me insane."
" So it's all these weird lead over -- I'm not gonna pay thirty dollars no way to go to movies we can imagine we didn't mention was thirty dollar I was kind of want to hear loud yeah that. I don't know -- at all you know there's a whole another side which is one of the things Hollywood's Norton -- being -- is doing a long time is. The idea that -- the movie is really anticipated like Dark Knight or something that movie should be more expensive than a movie that isn't. But I'm willing to pay more I shouldn't be forced to pay more all movies shouldn't be the same time status liberal -- can -- yeah it's a huge topic that."
" It is scary for us is the consumer because there's the supply and demand rules are plays that yeah. The demand for that movie and the demand to -- at the weekend it comes out is much much higher than. Seven aren't any other movie and that's I mean the end the important thing years."
" In its true."
" You can make a helluva lot more money doing at the bottom of the bottom line is it just -- Stairs is noble thing what was he like hackers were already red bulls saying I cannot allow backwards that we were uses that -- it was an attack and up with. Lows license saying nose at digital downloads and -- like outward like."
" You know retirement at least Carter's attorney Carney relate well yes because we use only your car and -- BC EU wants to -- nice and easy it's like a total mind shift it's not I'm not me."
" Do what you're saying what would raise the prices and and changing it based on quality movies for -- you know single easy Broadway play constantly is more expensive than seeing -- off Broadway plan -- right. Well yes I'm not not by much but not at all but quit and it also reminds me of there's something to me this thing that I like about this is not there's not gonna talk about it there's an like about it and that. You now movies is not. And anyone that happen again and that went on what it was that and I -- get these when it was like it did not see how you dress up. And you dress up to of the leader and something -- In the art design that's all your life -- it's like that exactly in this but now starting to sort of be that way when I go to the arc light and I think I. I I'm kind of all right. Wit and I US and don't you know I did not want people as the -- there's -- I mean my guarantee going to -- we're lucky enough to live in a city where it wouldn't be not only are like act which where it you hey you know that it's going to be huge screen I -- are easy and relax going to movies and I hope I -- even one person alive and remain at regal -- what is England because it's not. I have that's down but I already feel like I'm playing roulette based on who sits next to me. Yeah most well it's -- is down there. And I just lost the lottery and I really want to say I really isn't anything though that. And not I think -- I succumbed to feeling okay -- watching movies and each you know. Online but really all about his made me feel a little bit less guilty rafting and Peter because they're really as much as people think that while the -- the nation in really is when you're seeing someone. When you're seeing it even any dramatic -- does that look if there's -- got in the -- but even seeing it. Diving on the butterfly and a person's face these ten feet tall is not as different didn't end. Then one but. On your HD fifty television and I finally there's a news won't take on definable and psychological. That it's me I'm going I'm Xena and looking not mean. -- people start to make home Spears'."
" Yeah this guy was I'm also a different mental pain when you. You know they say did not only would help people -- better term the woman and I need to send us this day Saturday in people having problems sleeping tonight don't only sleep in bed. To not do any work in bed don't read about your best bet is for sleeping otherwise who associate it with -- more than sleep well yes. Yeah tables where. I -- why bring this up. Is because there's something about paper ticket. Go to driving partying going and sitting there and watching psychologically. There's a big difference between that then watching that scene movie right where you're on your computer are we can get -- we can cause he could answer the phone -- you're doing we're watching he was much more passive than watching a movie and it -- only one other ideologically different of the big."
" Whole nother issue. The idea of attention span and how are we separate our attention and youth and all that -- I don't want to get into I think the one thing that we have learned is that I do not want to sit analysis couch or -- on this table -- Amazing."
" way back in 20041. Of the very first."
" What was then next -- which is now our current Jan video games to be announced."
" Was again from digital extremes called dark sector and then -- actually really course we'll get the original video announcement because it's very different."
" Because they released and any ambiguity three and he released a video and said this is all in game footage you know it's."
" A whole new direction while the game for almost forty years two days later and he has been released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. And it's so different from what it was originally supposed to be it was -- in space at that time. And that's -- of the character designs are are still similar but now. Or -- got up from digital extremes of -- right then you guys they give -- an -- championship. Yeah. And a little lines. What's now -- now digital extremes to provoke us good."
" I don't know them today. DD 3 o'clock in outlook and imagining the logo."
" Really how -- did yeah I remember in exile little map published. I don't know that Jewish is that is an erection company needed an unreal -- and arrived. And so yeah. So I don't go to Iraq and I was I was about good evening I'm -- I wouldn't really -- present here isn't that I don't know how does that without it so anyway. We have dark sector which is what to -- Two parts gears of war when our control this season with a little bit of metal gear solid. My -- you have dark center built -- guy does is worst idea photo."
" It's a third person action game you've got a big way you moon. Which is liquid Crowley is is that -- think you weren't addicted and infected by some sort of crazy insane and -- kills and he is --"
" So -- And then yes we oh I should say we going to the PS3 version because Alex's Xbox is still lost and that's honored to me that I didn't know it also has your Xbox is that right I'll tell you -- for the guessing is presented that. Just okay so what do you think of it are done. So yeah I first saw blade into what they call that thing in the crawl they didn't think same light sabre like using the -- I think that does exist before crawl to Brendan I don't know maybe you and that's I thought it. Yeah."
" On her seem like actually the weapon yeah that affect. So I didn't before seeing the box for this scene he's describing dark sector I was like okay shuttle winner may. Then when I for the box I remembered something on the heard this easy trail that yeah -- and that -- all cash. And then put it into -- hopeful about. This is not shuttle and this low score and graphics were on soon the holy crap and that's -- on my okay it is somewhere then."
" to basically 866. Missions later."
" And you know I'm like I did and yet there's -- a million. You want me I don't know why all -- I love that they -- her arm it did everything but act. That they about it that it crack for me is whenever they promote. Many teens and specific. I remember rationing -- can. Is promoted by the weapon power up your weapons and really how and -- isn't going to find anything can powerhouse. It is always our first viewing video games any power and power in the weapons are leveling -- is never really -- that's never been what's fun for -- games this -- crack that for me I. Oh I I might not the first mission played not so much fun business you start you personally with -- claim I didn't decade and it and then when I got eight. Funny and then when I got the next civilian border I was like -- this smoke yeah amazing and then the next familiar -- Actor cuts the waiting and you make it won't mean it just me my purely that does then design a nerd to game play I -- Surely because I'm giving you something new almost every level renaissance Italy yeah just -- the nineteen play mechanic. You get -- situations at times I would just run -- not guys out quickly and it's our Chevenement does that that would just just out of touch -- just -- find -- I think nobody on my -- business or -- just weapons and it's just -- once called that into I didn't know any of them -- names. Last judging us what you can guided after -- Yeah he's worked right the names they assignment but -- not yet but. So I've done that I don't need to write stories terrible I'm not you know it doesn't even resonate with me at all and you -- apparently -- yeah Russian etc. then back dating the guy he's got to admit he's not cool looking -- it -- handing them by hand it's it's. -- can't hear you gentlemen."
" Well. -- sort of added this I started the same way that day ended where I was like I never heard of this is probably just -- IIC news at PS3 exclusive first person shooter and it was going to suck. That's when when it starts segregating we had a history that vaccines unity."
" I don't like what are. The got a lot solidly went right -- I remembered it from like sixteen years ago with the guys -- saying okay cool."
" Certifying it I will say I I really -- lights a lot of the movement stuff. I -- cover mechanic was really an awkward I was I found myself."
" Doing somersaults in this stuff which we didn't want exactly here's what I know I disagree heartedly it's -- try to steer toward fails who uses more Eileen I felt like."
" When I figured out and do gears of war I was moved slipping out from stop slamming into things with this EE you do that like."
" east go from one woman the other law it automatically takes you off unless you really hate your family's -- not as if it weren't you my hat's."
" That said. Once I got that first thing that the big maybe then I was like -- though once I started veering out how to do you. I'll tell you -- couple levels where I it."
" Was you know being that my hobbies like yeah. Like you know what."
" Tied her up and down a hallway down the hallway still back there are weighted. Power play three guys out waited power -- that so that I didn't I didn't at one point I should have been doing it and it never stop sending zombies and it. I never got blamed -- yeah."
" He's still up there and the other was to get on somebody gonna blow something up husband did not come at me but I mean literally burden maybe ten minutes just."
" And I was like getting my timing down on the origin or -- I was top 5% I was a little bit -- and number that was on does that also reminded me isn't -- exactly this is so perfect it's giving me Matt and -- also slipped the ring system in the last line of seasons ED EU that thing up here's how this -- this. I can't cure a little ways where -- timing it correctly you between you get."
" You see -- rewards you you know any I actually get more from me kept coming up a lot Allah Allah and if if nothing else this game really -- segregated words you don't because I really miss the government candidate."
" The week of hand and feeling like I was. I knew how to control him to do the things. But I loved the glad I'm and a glass and -- yeah that I think."
" This game proves its need that using video games."
" Derivative isn't always bad -- isn't necessarily bad it doesn't come hand -- oftentimes it is. But this game is gears of war I mean."
" Every I was shocked to discover that it's not the unreal engine. It looks like it feels like there's -- what every single thing you do in the game other than a related stuff. Is exactly gears of war well. How it works -- nursing gears of war -- here and I agree with both of you guys if this is an unexpected lead. Very good game and I knew I was sad that I had to give it up and pass or not you tell us."
" Yeah me I know but I did the right and I was like a cover my face like can you bring our not in fact yadda I think that there's only ten chapters Atlanta chapter in us politics I don't mrs. Lawrence you're -- enough -- goes on -- not -- You'd like agreeing completely with what you said that they do a great job of adding new things to do you every time. --"
" Andy each of those things they act gives you a new way to approach the problem."
" Does vehicles section in the game is better than the other section appears the it's not like you could throw the -- into electricity a fire when I -- this thing -- that was sun hadn't had to figure out how to get the light the fires and keep the fires a live."
" Yeah hard to -- uninteresting managed -- did just that it's very competent solid game and I recommend it to everybody I'm glad it's not something we overlooked yeah must tell him."
" I don't backlit color section always trying to think he's in it and our bodies stopped over at it was called the fantasy cop yeah he's. Ban -- as well and came up to me in London and I see this show -- stack -- three and want to wish that we want to read hi Scott pilgrim and dies by Bryan -- O'Malley. Princess Sarah written hand drawn and bomb in his book that has gotten some buzz especially lately because there's a movie being made."
" I'm going to be directed by a Edgar Wright -- director. China dead and hot hot hot fuzz face and you test rumor has it it's going to star. I'll ask Barack Scott -- for that you may know from -- and an hour and."
" I midday because -- yeah. OK yeah. I don't it's it's -- main guest I'll book which he's got the smaller format we read the first trade I think there's -- Four out -- and leave and it's going to be seven. Senator I don't know that I yes -- it is about the eponymous. The lead character. Coup technical common here. Falls for -- Amazon.com. But dot CA that's. You cannot prove roller blade deliberately. Woman girl."
" And I'm in over the course of the book well have to you did feed her seven evil ex boyfriends."
" And exhibit some kind of mix of very small intimate character what kind of really -- and high school and the eyes of the top shelf book couldn't Gatt and mix that with. A lot of really Conrad done did you dream references and it's almost over the top. But New Zealand I think for."
" Yeah from that book that I had even read so we didn't do what it was just."
" Did not description sounds like everyone who watches our show she drove by this comic book yeah and but you think. And then again but I thing. They should do that hello -- Chris Bury him shot I think kids I think I have read this awhile ago and I think like okay. I'm Greta I -- I read it I read under very limited circumstances. The it would I didn't did not say it was a little room in a pleasant experience I had reading it was -- action is going to very. There's like you're having guns darva girl issues that were happening while I was reading -- book about her own reality in this fog and black in -- reading it I. Lot. -- it would occasionally read I know I'm so I was so there's an -- can be seen in -- in -- I'm so glad that you had us read this page is items -- I don't usually this -- so I went out. But it is so good guys and it really is the ultimate -- I mean. What it is not an -- I think also it's my way up from around the way it's drawn -- during -- first credit was sort of hard to differentiate characters and I got very -- looking rights. But let me guess what it is for comics is its its aggressive and -- and and Mike -- it. Like -- like the lock stock car smashed how would freeze frame is and titles that describe people like the beginning counting we were of the yearbook pictures and gotten like it is in there are -- club went out of the IKEA furniture and got -- like at a comic book that does that you're like an. And you you're gonna like."
" It as soon as this other person that says that. -- two hours later or something yeah yeah I feel like they like Nancy hello this and somber there yeah all I. I did enjoy get eight this is not my packed comic book correct at all I'm not a big patient -- on deeds. Now like I'm not a big fan of I let my comics. To be funny as they're taking yes I don't want my comments to be funny last sometimes they can guess it out there is -- but it's all -- my track. Moment and is and I also don't like my comics I think. Set in like a cedar. Reality and it's just like feeling this is light weight Weinstein didn't even need. Did you watching an Independent movie. About a relationship. Or family drama. And then you know riot riot which well okay we'll order or even naked one. -- us. The -- but it is like watching that movie would very like character driven almost up and even it's funny. And seem like -- and unity you're seeing play even did not act lady. Act senility and for me life. -- just doesn't see it seems it always of the comic books in -- I don't know why -- without."
" I knew how to do not like those of both parts are -- that sex and how we came back over uniting kind of digging at first -- and that's it means that the -- got clearly -- depreciation in the beginning it's."
" Very -- Real very real you know natural listed there and dealing with him dating this young kind of inappropriate relationship he's had an ice yeah. And men at a certain point it becomes like anything is possible this it's allowed under inviting him I lasers and out of life."
" He honestly did the whole thing to -- was just -- who. I was finds all of it."
" An and then again I'll say it was -- it was fun it was entertaining it was funny I never got how many times it works genuinely funny but it's not desirable I would seek out help I."
" I didn't or light did I liked it when it became. Like when it solidified when it's not like I did kind of."
" I need a little patients in the beginning to get through okay when he's in this relationship I didn't think that it was particularly insightful. Or it's a little cliche you know the beginning. And we mentioned last week that we're gonna start on our journey of watching Babylon 5 which is written by judging -- Hinske who is also don't lot of novels and all kinds of other stuff including comic books get -- run on amazing Spiderman and he wrote the phenomenal rising stars which is. Heroes before heroes. -- that's cruel."
" And -- bum."
" One of the things he did from -- a while ago it is reinventing. Their property squadron supreme squadron supreme I was going to hold. Cut almost like an inside jab at DC. Back in the seventies from -- it's it's there analog to the entire justice that you got. Picture on Superman got learns flashing got a nice park whose. And the whole cast a hobby is so funny and you brought in to fight you vendors because in the seventies all the people wanted to see is JLA versus. Give managers and the two companies can make it happens that I always -- agreement. So right so this property has been completely invented it I gen ass and we read the first trade I've I've written read a lot and it. And unfortunately gets a little but a lot different retired at a certain point -- the first trade is a balanced. The discovery of high purity -- in much the same way that Superman is discovered crashing to earth. But that take on this series is that what if this happened what do these super heroes that are. Definitely based on the classic and just as the characters what are they happened in the real world right now. What would that be like what how might that play our what do you see characters were treated like marvel characters. What you."
" More than normal I don't like I know that -- night and banning -- yeah."

Is this is a joy as well like yeah I mean like it's now time which is fine you know I mean but since birth and then it's also -- like cool. Hyper realistic. Not realism the united mean like it's really Howell -- for non realistic things could affect our actual reality rather than. Let's create this. -- Z military you know. -- Which is also kind of what I get from. Ultimate space sort of like it's now we deep red you know -- Not bushels as an artist and this is Gary franks and I think the artisan gorgeous and I feel."

Happening the first being heard why -- rising stars -- I loved the first issue of rotten start American company cannot and -- and the -- very good things like anyone who read comic books like heroes because. And bell socialist so many comments from rising stars being meanwhile there was always a shuttle's left 4400 I'm honorable and didn't -- and -- in this comic book now I come to realize who's very someone rising stars and and we can talk more about that later tonight.

His relationship. And his friends and kind of clear the winning interacted highlights -- video game you know his band is called sex bomb bomb you know which is from marvelous."
" And that's cool but but once it became our you have to defeat my evil ex boyfriends like that's cool and it."
" Smart and funny and interesting and that's what I -- more damage to this into the next trades are about. Both the one of the next one can it is casing towels.
What you."
" More than normal I don't like I know that -- night and banning -- yeah."

love the earlier time slot.
I'm enjoying their convo on Stephen Chow films. It's jarring to hear the views of people who (understandably) have only seen his western breakthrough stuff, and even Dan, who has seen his old stuff (and hated it cause he didn't get it). I personally love God of Gamblers, but that's cause I'm chinese and get that sort of thing.

First off the movie experience is screwed from the get-go. The theaters are full of 13-25 year old punks and gangbangers. The movies are too expensive and the treats are too expensive. For me it's more the punks that keep me away. I don't want to pack heat in a theater just because I expect a fight to break out.
I'd suggest a theater could make it if they had a code of conduct and enforce it vigerously. No talking or cell phones and punks get knocked on the head and thrown out.

i agree with alot of what they say about movies and the experience, but a film like Cloverfield....
my friend just saw it recently, not in the theaters, and he automatically regret not seeing it in the theaters with us (i went with people and saw it in the theater opening night). it was really an epic experience. even if the movie isn't super awesome, the sounds, the sight of the beast, it felt like I was there. for a movie like that, it felt right, and seeing the monster on a big screen with 100s of people in the theater with me, you can't do that at home, really.

Woo hoo! My background was used!
I've been watching TRS every week since it started. Today, I got a nice surprise to see my animated TRS background was used for Episode 55!Thanks Dan, Alex, and Jeff! Glad you guys liked it. It was kind of funny seeing Jeff talk as a tentacle is creeping behind him! :)
Keep up the good work. Glad I could contribute.

I'm just starting it now. Most of the intros baffle me, it's quite humbling.

Just finished watching this weeks show :)
I'm glad u did a review of Dark Sector, one of the games I have been looking forward to and it sounds promising :)
After getting my HDTV I must agree that going to the cinema makes it harder.
I dont know how it is in the U.S but here you have to pay same price no matter what screen it is. So if you pay full price then have to sit in a small room with crap sound then the 10 quid is not really worth it

Movies should have a price index based on the demand. Studios would make more money and the audience would be filled with more fans of that movie rather than some group of teens having nothing to do that weekend.

That's a pretty terrible idea. If these people can charge £20 for a ticket to Transformers 2 they will. Punishing fans? Is that really what it'll take to make people behave like human beings in a cinema? Shall we price little kids out of the cinema? "Saved all your pocket money, have you? Tough. Indiana Jones 4 is far too popular for us to let the likes of YOU in."
How about the cinemas just up their damn quality of service. Employ security guards. Ban people who are consistently disruptive.
