" This week in movies we are talking about Harry Potter and the half blood prince based on need. Book by the same name is these six. Book and film -- Harry Potter franchise finance director by David Yates who -- the last line and we'll be doing the following. His new bit the last the last of the of the movies. Com. The stars are on the same men. And I want Jim -- one new one Jim -- as is further announced return everyone returns. And has ever been. Yeah I still see areas that's really now the six part of one story that nominee you're the closest they come to this is changing -- bond or well not that's piracy is serious this Boozer episodic but right it's not one this is the hardest we've ever got. I believe I mean maliciously or he -- we have an Ali thanks and it's always was -- was three and went back to pre equals and I don't want he's doing kind of sort of not not quite later this felt. Yeah on so characters doesn't GAAP. What did you think of Harry Potter and the half blood prince and these you Blix time have read all the books yes policy sellers this guy has not to generate any of the class I've read a little bit of the first one that. I cannot scan and then he asked if it was just like a wrinkle in time to send it back."

" Yes yes it's interesting you know it's a completely different experience I would suspect someone who knows this story versus someone doesn't mean -- For me the joy of these movies now is watching. These. Incredible British actors worked Jim Broadbent is phenomenal character stuff to -- does in this movie's great. The the all the adult. British actors that you -- to see working and it's just a treat because they did it feel like they won't let him with both feet these characters and I think the movie shot. Beautifully. Beautifully. There are some wonderful visual flourishes. How an example of which one of my favorite moment is right near the beginning and there. We're in the Weasley house. And it did people here that Harry Potter might be there and this is great shot looking up and multi level easily house in these heads kind of pop out differently this is this really great. -- Visual gags that -- it just shows an inventive mind that work -- directorial. I don't. It you know this movie takes a lot of liberties with the story but I don't watch these movies anymore for the story act I've got I have and I know what went. It for me now it's the visual ride at seeing the stuff in my head come to life and I fill in the gaps where it's missing so. I know I can't really speak to just think how well the story was and they but I had a great time watching Canada going to hear about that I tell you how. I don't know everything haired. What I missed."

" Yeah I. Yeah I mean I agree I think this may be my favorite of the potter movies so far it was definitely not my favorite of the books which is interesting. The listeners. Operas dressed man -- book was my favorite by far actually didn't Rick I'm not a big fan of where this series went in the sixth and seventh mom because of the fact that everything else was sort of here's a hot -- story here's the next year in the next general said it was like now it's just this -- Other totally different story which is crazy and fun and cool but I always like the fact that it was sort of always brought back to this school. In the previous books that said this movies gorgeous. That kids have really grown into their own as far as they're acting abilities count and when you watch the first Harry Potter and wants this Harry Potter I mean. 888 you just don't menu you forget that it's kids in the -- these guys -- Really top notch. There's some. Epic moments that that cursing moment that happens is like. Co op what movie and I watching their couple scenes where it's like what am I watching. The horrific yeah in a great way because this that's what it is it's like this you know. Childish fairy tale offset by this horrible stuff that's happening I think it's -- first time you really get brought in to sort of depths of what is actually going on and in the sort of evil that's that's that's that's brewing underneath and I'm excited to see the next -- movies and you're going to be extremely. Dark extremely edgy Strom. So yeah I had a I had a lot of minutes -- can ponder what you line."

" Yeah. I always enjoy it and then -- potter movies I never would say they're great movies -- I love them whenever. I think this wind you have to have passed. When I heard really husbands about I was excited that maybe this can be how economy where you have to have seen the I think to see Nouri Al whatever -- on this -- stands on its own as a good. Movie let alone any Harry Potter movie or whatever. It's not that but it is the best one of this series I loved it and actually think messing and again for some weird reason like. Infectious and I heard all you guys with with all what you said the acting and these kids. Finally not only not only was there acting phenomenal. On the by all so the finally story wise they are people it's finally a movie about people it's not just. Pawns in the plot of the -- it's like except my. I actually think that last week we -- five days of summer Newton's book about how amazing it was. It is far and forming relationships and and this this movie yet equally as profound things to say about relationships and friendships and it does things. Day bomb. That most of these don't do about those stories it doesn't do -- John Hughes. Mechanic. How relationships or form and a on it's a little more true to life and let's just say. Now wish include -- definitely representatives yeah ever definitely there was some great stuff but -- Up all and also. You cinema photography and why is the best and photography. Probably in the past five years of many movie certainly of the Harry Potter franchise. Brutal double now did the movie on the way which when backing out all of us where he learned were mimicking the stuff he had done an online and now with her I mean nighttime in this movie this -- that you guys and even real I mean I don't realize is happening. That night the nighttime look in this movie is completely unique to any other film. It. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous and the score -- you know this guy's taking over for John Williams. On ask other people have and other franchise but he did the last one in this one. And there's there's accused in this square there aren't any the other those I think is better than John one's been seen."

" I disagree slightly with their relationship come out the go to go as far as you in in. Praising the way the relationships and I think it is a little. -- operating team a little I mean they know it's not it's not 500 is a summer subtle. Our profound but I will say that it's interesting that this movie. Especially compared the last one we had a really big action set piece and which is interesting because the book has in big action set -- at the end and they took that. Which is shocking I was sort of wonder."

" About tech -- kept going like this is how like that I think it actually. Not one of my problems that I had was it was the fact that. The ending of this movie didn't land on me as much as I thought it would we knew going in when it was yet but you know what the ending of the last movie and landed on me and I an exact -- to have done and I don't know. How is that. I don't know why that happened but there are some you talk about -- and photography when it cuts you know it's like it's like to -- tee shot. Of this sort of -- back and forth duel in the magic dual and then all of a sudden extreme wide shot with a blast hit saying it's like. It's it's almost like."

" And in a bush is watching wizards and keep -- give -- some of my point about the Doug removal of the action set pieces -- interest in this movie seems much more. Subdued it's much more about. Discussions between panel and and it's it's interesting that it works on that level that's still as engaging and a two hour forty minute movie -- I think it was what it was is still. It interesting to watch and doesn't get boring when you I think even the ones are going to action up the ball well -- end of the set -- it's almost like."

" When you watch a movie like foot taller one or state of play or three is the cons nor are we less political thrillers and where it's all these heated debates -- Kenya feeling like you just on action -- and no there's no battle secret acting and that's what this movie was like good point. Annan briefly we -- but any moving is initial and very long summer actually not that hired I don't know in this note I was gonna ask you guys we we we never talk look at these on the stuff plant. I think finally announced -- green land turned yeah gays from Ryan Reynolds directed by Martin Campbell -- Mike Campbell has made many movies but. He sneakers kissing her out and basically said yeah guys I and that -- and hello -- Jim Clancy we never you I assume either a green lantern knot Maria I'm not really. He's always been I -- I need to him. I feel is not Ryan Reynolds. You love Brian I love Ryan Reynolds and actually you -- Ryan Reynolds is a superhero. I could I -- I there's no reason for me and I indigo love him as a leading man in a horror film like Amityville horror and he should probably --"

" That because I have might add I'm very dubious about Ryan grounds then because that man goes to slapstick it's like a little bit he's got a little -- innocent and well while I really get any dead pool is at full. -- he was simple in the war rally but there are supposedly is an offer right now is probably not going to have probably not but -- is that wise cracking then wasn't that when a Wolverine movies. For me I'm really happening and Ryan Reynolds brings to rolls. Just what silent -- like I feel like he's a guy who on the page it's one thing when he comes on board. He he makes it his own -- makes it much funnier than it would be honest I don't talk that he's a very good and are what you bring I think you must like glade -- in fact he was should handle it green mountain and is really likely through industrial and nobody that was my name one company's problems -- minutes I'm a little bit hesitant but again I don't -- I I -- gonna get great -- what is it. Okay why is that because for me it's like. That man is I know Batman is and who Superman is those are very different roles you really get into this like when they're casting superheroes. Who are they all distance was being tough guys America's or something unique talent Jordanians and -- concern that yeah well I think the Ryan Reynolds in this man is a particularly appropriate -- we're talking civilian and that was that awesome fan mail yeah. Yeah trailer that early phenomenal and the reason I think people are going to those. More Everyman kind of self aware wisecracking types is that. That dream land turned. Core you know that the super power is kind of thrust on this guy's life."

" And he he's it's it's bigger than him and he's sort of bewildered as to. At the beginning -- you know what's even do you can I think that there is that quality I would assume that they're gonna be put in films of this guy sort of in a little over his head first which. Is different than a Superman -- Batman I am okay absolutely -- it not that great pick up."

" we're talking up. About eight game -- played on the PC this week although it supposedly is gonna be released on PS and and rumor has it also on Xbox Live Arcade. And it's and call Tryon. And it's from a Finnish developer called frozen -- And this is a very he's sort of retro. Move the kind of game it's that it's that two and a half dean fan yeah it's it's Judy Platt former -- with a 3-D engine. And the concept of this game is that. That's three. Major classes of role playing -- thief the fighter and the wizard. All what happened to touch this. Interesting magical item at the same time and -- get their souls fused together. And the embark on a quest to figure out how to undo that and in this doing save the idea the kingdom. Name so the way you play is moved from left screen to the right of the screen and as a single player game you can switch on the fly any time between any of those three classes in the three classes play. Very differently from each of the fire of course is the most robust action. Character the thief can swing on it grappling hook which can attach to any wooden surface and has a bone marrow. And the wizard can and creates boxes and ramps and this cool floating triangle thing. As you level up. And so it's part puzzle. And harder action game and -- actually quite a lot of the original Prince of Persia and company greedy Xbox person could presumably original old school principal purge."

" Communists he was -- all tariffs on. These lessons during the white hood and only then yeah well what do you think of the game of trying I like did like that a lot it very difficult at times are definitely parts are I was like man. -- The fact that you can swap on the fly it was. Unbelievably satisfying having a wizard like shake. Some saying and then switch and -- shoot it and then swing died doubles when yourself. I was immensely satisfied so it's a very satisfying game. I would probably prefer to plan only an Xbox or PS -- London. Played played hockey team went on Xena I'm playing on these he just was a little bit light. I mean -- just not in the united like I know what it what -- second planet so slight lag and plan now."

" Well there's the shooter. -- and they're really good."

" Another nagging ankle suffered a country's anti -- and so much you know so cool so I kind of felt like."

" For our platform are it would have been nice to be sitting on the couch like gotta say I'm playing my Xbox controller and my computer and -- into the game patent owns a minute I included on the agenda and a -- and sports in any it's."

" Absolutely awesome did you what did you think trying. Have done that now is nick and attacked him pop. He -- trying. Graphics are amazing and -- gorgeous gorgeous graphics. Rent it reminds me of me because it's on PC. And in the consulate analysts say it but remind me of the scene the outlook I mean you have a guy very much. If yet. While I was gonna say that it's sort of when we went ahead this time last year today on and I can almost -- just play Diablo -- it -- scratch that it's a little -- a very different kind of game that but the feeling of being and now we're all feeling I had -- gas bomb. Yeah this is my favorite kind of gain -- action -- stuff the puzzling stuff all in engaging every -- my twist and engaging my migraine. The only thing lives and I wondered this would be different with the controller is this swing mechanic. Agent in and here's a mechanic to others or mechanic canes but yet -- the they -- using air and then having having I hit -- act like it's just something was really off with the swing mechanic in the game and I never able to do away any really flourish she -- it was. Perhaps is very different when I'm hitting a button but that did the right. Button I'm on the Nelson left on but I can't just a thought -- I have to also jumped at the same time Arlington it's going and it they never can never get momentum right it was always off. For me by. On yeah I really do like new idea of linking unique and and really fun and great looking instead."

" Great I can put out I. This came I had such a blast and it really they're really quite opposite to what you said it really reenergize -- to -- PC games again because I'm sitting there looking at this thing. In 1900 by 1200 on my monitor going. I forgot. I mean 1080. At this game is absolutely spectacular 1200. It is one of the best looking games I have ever played I think and the physics system. Is is great and that's the way you solve puzzles in this game in almost every time you and turn your screen. Is there's some sort of puzzle figured out either how to get to these. Little green potions that. -- present your experience -- very cool thing because it really is. You have really may have experienced figuring out how to get to know yeah yeah and it does I never felt like I found the solution. I just found a solution whereas. Because they almost any of the characters can figure awaits you do it. Brett and I always felt like I am using. The playground of the physics and ability is. Of the wizard and and -- to to figure out my own way now to accomplish this task it was so much funnier if you can create these boxes and there's a great level mechanic where you can then create more boxes and more -- Zionists already exist -- just a wooden boxes like yeah like clockwork ads like you know NGS box and it's so great and I just I didn't wanna stop playing -- presentation is -- it the way tell the story is that is great narrator is you feel like you're a storybook and then characters themselves -- talking to each other in this great video. It's a thirty dollar game on them on steam. I think it's worth it. Supposedly -- and it's gonna be out any day now I I hear and it's gonna be ten dollars cheaper so I think it's steel. Great great game. The next game I wanna talk about is an Xbox Live Arcade download and if you'll excuse me points are going to prop up. And lower back. Well and."

" Thoughts a lot I was game reviewer from the newspaper and I couldn't find my actual review of the secret of monkey island. But I found a calm -- named the best games I've ever played an old games that I gave me tens if this is my hand a photocopy of my of my column. At that time is a very young and -- photo of me but -- so I I -- secret of monkey island on CD-ROM. Alongside -- alone in the dark star control to space quest five kings quest six as as top PC adventure games. Puppies action games were Wolfenstein 3-D and I commander X wing. Anyway so. Clearly I have a great affinity in my heart for. The secret of monkey island which is an old Lucas arts."

" It's it's one of those games that is sort of in the pantheon of if you've never played it's really worth playing."

" Which is great because it's being released re released on the Xbox Live Arcade with a completely new graphics skin and audio it's been really -- This last week there. We we all played it mom. They do really cool thing I think is that it's got this new layer of graphics and audio and you voice over work in new music compositions. But at any time when you're playing it you can push the back button and switch back to the original. Graphics so it's like this magic. Time machine. I found myself switching back and forth. All that time just just listen to take that cool triggered backing -- time but also to see. Just a wonderful new art that they've put it and how they re imagined what it wasn't that old. You know 256 color -- into this I don't know 1080."

" Let's on the -- mass there was this black chick with an Afro in the old version and then now she's like oh yeah it's I think I can. Make it back then I know that's a black to put that for it just looked like a muddled. Leg darkness. They and now they don't know I get what they're -- Caribbean did you ever play this game is again yeah I did basic game games it can play a lot -- bit. No I never got very far -- As -- your kids and often -- yes so yes I mean I -- plays -- for hours. Was not space left is my favorite of this theory is above all these when you -- adventures. But -- I -- for hours and hours later and when now wouldn't we we're gonna play this is only get farther than I ever did now I can't wait to do you that. And I realized when I got farther than that I realized I was not far at. And reminiscing or they outnumbered the prison and -- prison and being late that was a really deep in the game like that but I bet it up first thing you do yeah I couldn't believe it outputs very helpful with this."

" Team is he can't. Feature which is completely a new addition for the for the special edition right was so big you hit acts any time and it tells you what to DO I don't know how. I would when I finally did this to see what. I had deal. Will waive my brain when -- ever go line in the direction that -- you -- I for a thirteen away. That being said I'm so glad it did that because just. Experiencing this story is. I mean he's not writing right it's big it's just so Tim -- and unseemly button again and again and brutal legend. These are allowing -- start yet. One of the funniest names to -- day one of the funniest things that makes I didn't get. They get the troll has George Lucas inside -- funny isn't wonderful that rather than being a wonderful ad for leg room. Yes I -- seeing amazing which I remember buying a game in Anaheim and you got game. Bless you didn't make it and whenever I just -- Dave van which. Now is one of the most profound -- had any game. Is defeating the -- to defeat the sword master you don't because it's -- imagine you never have an action -- moment you don't actually by the sword the way they did it was you have to learn clever puns in order to defeat. The sword master so you -- your humiliating all of these like reports back report that it's it's a fun way to. To do is exactly my experience not having to beat up hired by having you know that there what you see back to that report whatever and then you by the sword master but it's not the same stop. So you have to in our from her new insult what -- comeback could be that was a comeback -- at the is that I actually was like. I young wanna be -- I mean that's the -- peel it back over my favorite moments these games I felt like a -- shot right pregnant had been that they won't remarkable intelligent razor sharp wit Alex."

" Do all and listless and now I I did not I did not. This is too slow for you in this game. Now what it's tourists. Here's the problem this and I I think you nailed it. Totally which was. When your kid and you playing king's quest that you think you are almost done with the game and you battening down the first thing that you need to do -- And at the time I remember. I did this would -- where we knew I was able to get very very far and -- and then I was I was wondering how stomped them and and I bought big game guide because of that and just in trying to get through this one part. These these games to me are. Twenty minutes of forward progress and two hours of not doing -- And it's and the thing I do is really dislike about this game is it's not just. You wouldn't you don't know what -- that you're supposed to do now it's you don't know what seven steps ago you were supposed to do that has not saying. To do with what you're supposed to do -- them. That will get you to where you need to be so great example is. I think who need it now. Honestly cannot uncertain because that's a good example is like. It seemed I met pirates got -- didn't highlight it right I know exactly any any undefined sort and it gives hard and you do visited a synagogue as a starter -- right. No went to an half an hour on how do what breaking get this sort from this guy that's the Joe Friday. That's the giants for people yeah that is the judge for people all for me it was all I met the pirates and then the last sting out try stuff instead of going through this random other literally. I was two hours because they chose to go left on -- screen instead of right. And it within the left you can go anywhere else in the game and nothing. Is doable there's no progress. So that to mean brought back this whole frustration that I had with these games which was. You know you don't I am I don't need bread crumbs but I need some Linear connection."

" Resigning him is a long way honored as being used to how are being designed now you -- we aren't even -- in those direction now. A bulb but so I think there's -- game is un playable without -- I mean there's it's not even I had it was like get drought there's no way you kind of like your tennis drugs."

" There's nothing from -- I didn't -- I had to get like other issue comes into the OK so -- I didn't I didn't have fun aspect but. Z. Ecstatic joy and the sort of being back in that world was definitely in the style Jake and I was very excited to have that experience."

" No I think overall I didn't really enjoy playing."

" Okay that's -- IE. Los Angeles says it's on yeah I mean and then back in 1992. When that you know it in. -- 1990 and it's such a wonderful. Labor of love that clearly they put into it doesn't remaking of this because there's so many. Hours of -- update and in music got data and voice over stuff that scores greatness oh yeah in this thing about this is they don't make games like this anymore I mean that's probably what you're talking about people need that sort of thirty seconds of action. Repeated constantly. Which is fine doing things like that too but. It makes me yearn for a time I didn't just. Have to shoot something every four seconds you know like this game is this is a storybook. They are walking around interacting with these people in the -- walking that aren't going I can talk to all these people. And and find out how wonderful writing that they've come up with and try things and things don't work and I love that it makes me excited firfer. Heavy rain for example can I think that's the closest we're gonna get to a game like this."

" What about broken sword or they make yeah serve others and at this point click and Angela has been a new drugs -- long time I think I -- release and on the DS. What is best remake of my son -- an important. I I highly recommend he never experienced Magellan there's a reason that this is a classic and is remembered fondly by everyone who are -- back Hank adding it is. Is there's thanks so they want terrorists and says here. I think it's not about out. Lit a progression yeah I think it's not the dirt the journey."

" You but I would say I wouldn't -- seen any any of what I I'm look I I amber I never sought any of these shows on it when you're underwater -- tied I think underwater -- and -- and they cut loose and the guys look -- like. He had just -- so what does present a good good trying to throw it away."

" They're not an event that. Later this morning enjoy zone again I ended that and what I just said the voice acting as important to read all this and do his performances in your mind I was not as good an actor when I was when I was younger -- brand -- jet and he."

" Here in the voice acting was amazed Xena amazing I don't I want every. Standing behind series and -- holes was the I mean this is who I don't think Lucas arts has release such a crap ton of these on the bus steam already. -- loser and yet and -- everybody wants him impending go and full throttle which were both great and wonderful games."

" So your Mac again talking about TE me so much stuff has been happening in television Trueblood. Is back in the luncheonette good stuff good stuff. Speaking on HBO HBO's college new series called Hong. And it's from us some of the people behind the riches in Jersey and ya on that aspect I think yeah."

" Says a couple of guy at the repeats from from the riches."

" And it's stars Thomas Jane and Jane -- And and Haitian as well as a number of other people offers us a loser to and pain Alexander -- was it was shot -- mountain."

" But."

" Anyway so Hawn is about -- down on his luck. Men's basketball coach boys basketball coach in high school. Who was sort of -- you know -- popular jock in in high school who is. Sort of gone down that path. His wife divorced and it is. House catches on fire is a lot of bad stuff happening in basically ends up sleeping an intense. With almost no money."

" So he has won sort of."

" Good value for himself which is he's hung -- not slip back hence the name Honda and so I mean basically goes on his -- to become a male prostitute."

" Straight -- fastidious and as hilarity ensues. So Jeff what did you think of Hong I really really like it and a lot yeah."

" We've seen it to first two episodes. And I thought of the palette."

" Wasn't one of the most entertaining pilots this you know long time and the second episode I was in better it."

" It being -- laugh out loud several times. The premise is of course ridiculous."

" But they don't pretend that it's not right now it's it's there's a wonderful sequence in the first one. Where in another show would you like oh my god really is saying that and they showed he says and it's like but that I didn't say that you know yeah. I give a lot of credit for like is this sort of self awareness goes. Listen we know -- know what you're thinking you know. Also I think it's it's as much as it's about this sort of we fought me."

" Six C premise."

" It's also about commerce it's about telling the -- for experienced that we reviewed earlier this year and it's about the."

" The down economy now it's about what -- land relationship. It's about changing professions in in mid life you know and."

" I think handles all those all those topics deftly and with. With."

" Insights you know Vietnam -- I I think Thomas Jane is great area. -- you know its also funny one last thing it you know much like in the movie."

" Com. And can't book known candidate I mean none of the other or use the male prostitute so our boy -- it's a -- here."

" Right which as a kid -- think oh my god it's like the great. It got out there. You know the idea that when you become history now prostitute you're only. In patients with like middle aged. Hot yeah and this is. It's just yeah. There. So what did you think -- I was Jack. I loved it yeah bomb it eight. -- first assault on the no it isn't creative labs and he's also any EP and on election is one of my favorite movies of all time and a and he's -- heated election about Schmidt and sideways. And then and you not -- nominated or won Academy Awards -- you know. And then expert but the -- it as I was and now we -- nothing so this is almost -- pilot episode is like our next Alexander pain man. And it it has that -- that he brought to cinema I think is that. Quirky tortured sure I'll bury your real life. But with a little bit quirk in you know that this is so real life and so matter acts but. Little bit -- and the way he shot the fire sequence I agree it's nice -- really did -- back and I have yet slices. Is the best way of explaining this tension filled morning it's. That are not means and a house Democrats on the and I'm not does suggest that tactic to catch this the casting of the show I'm. Flabbergasted. I think the case and the most real. Perfect and -- act. Actors even Thomas Steen and and Jane Adams. Like. They're not good looking people with pony tails and glasses on their real the real faces the real people on the protected but the -- with pony -- unless there's hey Thomas Jane I have I will say right now I've never liked him in -- thing. Really never liked him. I think what he's perfect in passing and he is perfect and it -- in that scene where she's like are you gonna dance for me is like. Yeah Andre is very like election meets -- needs yeah my way American -- yeah I'm."

" I think that's the mix and it's happening I I totally agree it it's hysterical as granite and went last more I think -- this I mean everything these guys about it. We're talking about merlot and now Merlin is a very interesting show because it is -- BBC series shot and it aired in the UK that is being re aired unedited. In the United States on NBC sent an entity is a big deal because it's not like. They're bringing Merlin over recasting and and re shooting -- with the office and callous and other shows. This is them literally just. Carrying a British television show. And so I get semi secret -- and I mean that's that's a big deal yeses on Sunday night -- which is -- Death Valley let's help. Big deal -- to watch it on -- hauling yards it's ours. John hurts. Colin voices are predominately right yeah. I've got Colin Morgan is plays Marlon. Oh -- what's -- isn't -- Anthony insert a giant things or else. Giles not he's not in street -- I love Colin Giles who couldn't said Giles from Buffy from about these series of plays we depend on hand and you know what. A sensibly it's small -- all four Camelot. It's sort of teenaged king Arthur as just art prints are certain. Teenage swimmer -- teen -- Guinevere and sort of that that changes in how the dynamics are knowing what it's going to be and then how they are currently sort of -- teens. And basically the premises. That magic has been outlawed in Camelot. The king has new it's been twenty years and nobody is -- magic and you know this show starts with them executing somebody for doing magic in Merlin is like showing up like automatic EI. I'll look at I don't do magic magic but. And so it's experience of him growing up and panel on how it and it sort of do mills into what we know on the Maryland and Arthur legends. Did you would you think."

" Obviously text does it deny deny guys about we have to talk about this I love this shall. Calling it blew me off guard a wash on late night. Man and I I knew of it from following Giles on Twitter may having the show was funny to know nothing about it took me my to my breath away -- I I I think I just loved the promise yeah I love. Then it. We've got we've said that this -- it's Merlin but magic is outlined. And yes it's -- on county line. But by by the third episode I realize -- also like CS IA. In its like Smallville on C aside. But also -- that -- themes of lost that science first faith. Yeah is is starting it in this story and it and I personally think it's magic -- magic right Cyprus magic but what I think that will become. Much much more in his eyes -- And -- but. I I love and I love. Bomb I'd love experiencing we knew we only get one kind of story in this milieu and and I love the idea just spending time here and having -- because I always thought I was -- even in the western siding or in the Victorian -- but they're teenagers then to act like one -- to be an American high story in that. Time I know this is not an -- I it's it'll look different but. But I guess I just I I love it and just and then different."

" I hate to be a ourselves well -- I did a budget snobs."

" But I have a very difficult time aesthetically. With these type of shows and I can't. Seemed to enjoy a Hercules. And Xena. And even -- that I've watched so far. And I'm. Because these guys don't keep yelling at me about it IE I have been watching starting at the beginning of Buffy and and make my wisdom only a few episodes in the second season. But I have a very hard time with how cheap everything looks and feels. And I can't seem to get over -- not really fair -- the show -- they're doing the best they can with what they've got. But the CG in this in this show that they who made the puppetry as well as pretty. Even not even -- sort of mom."

" The set design and -- shot and even actors to a certain extent it all feels very -- to me and and that. I can't enjoy I don't."

" I don't like the sort of monster of the week thing. Need I I don't think it has anything profound. Particularly to say. It feels very by the numbers that for -- is the second episode I found to be. Hard to get through it it I knew what was going to happen it it didn't nothing unexpected. Happened. I did not enjoy -- I don't particularly care for the guy playing Merlin. Benches and I just found very little light and just."

" Sadly I agree with a second I was I mean like I didn't like it that's I was relieved when the purpose of camp doesn't pisses."

" That's something yeah I I really enjoyed actually thankful that you run into my attention I sought the trump must for an NBC you don't like what is this all about and then once I found out that it was BBC series I was like okay well. I like what's going on in my final wants a pilot that was like yeah I am in I'm in blanks and and then the secretary episodes and it was good it was great I actually disagree I think kid playing with kids are what make it's I mean kid playing -- And the kid playing our sir. Married and their relationship. Is such amazing casting because their relationship is so. Like electric. In an emulate I agree yeah I like Kirk and Spock in the news or use our technology is. Yeah I mean it's just it's great and the way magic is handled I think is is really kind of cool in the way that you know. Other people have and maybe it's because I can forgive that because the Democrats. It's not for me to say that I feel like the production value is tying -- that getting past that drive you see what they're trying to do -- that said. I'm a complete nervous fantasy stuff so this to me is like. As I can't seem meets awesome town and that magic."

" Well it that you're not the beginning of last week's episode the in the intro lessons episode I talked a little about the George. Then it's hard when you're going to that universe concede kind of shoddy writing or what it comes across to me hasn't very pedestrian writing. And where what I do when -- Experiencing. In the same sort of general genre and universe. Is so rich and so well structured and again. I mean that's also the time that I'm seeing this show is that doesn't."

" And I believe we've domain. I think that's actually I prefer this Harry Potter you know really beef before using the latest one I was like -- so much better than the first Harry Potter movies and I'll just just. Because the magic -- I wanna carry on carry on the next -- the magic I loved. Like he's not a lot do you imagine had no way he he's I was a big thing for underdog story and a and they needed moral and -- underdog who has ability they didn't knew nothing about how to use. And he can't fight anyone and I have to use magic in a weird way he can never just use magic yes the music to do this thing that affects about -- we just don't rules. There's no there's really can't deal he can make a person not die. You know -- in the third episode is what happens."

" Well and it went in and -- got -- see like fantasy stuff. They'll be prepared for a loop and live yeah well."

" The road actually both those trees are coming up their books that I adore. As I haven't seen as yet but I yeah I anticipate the -- is nothing it's just. The Democrats but that's okay we'll save you know the one that -- my mind actually is The Lord of the Rings OO. Rings I read as a kid and I think it was a one time where the richness of the films. Really complemented the book in a great great way I mean I I. I love those books but there's a lot of stuff to slog through a lot of you know his. This is talking about is yet who began who and who's them you know. And those movies are you still get that depth. You do now -- I think that that's a great example of a movie that. Lives up to the book that I. Sadly often times that's not the case that anger and has had any."

" Yes -- me -- you directly from my avatar in the form on Kazaa. Anyway on this -- sexist URS to -- did you review -- part of forming. Yeah and that was the zoo was. No he's it's child there email her. -- is back on solid from Israel article that's amazing yeah is this base -- daughter is huge in his or I'm."

" I'm interested to hear you guys think of and potter."

Yea! They used my intro, what do you think? I didn't have much time to do it in so I kept it simple, I think it came out rather well and they linked it in perfectly.
Ironically I had the chance to go an see Harry Potter for free on Saturday and chose not to because I hated the last film and hadn't seen the TRS review of it, I'm sure I'll get the chance again and I know my family will buy the DVD.
I did pronounce Trine right, that's good.
Would it be right to say Fahrenheit (Indego Prophecy in the US) is the new Monkey Island, adventure type game? It's not 30 seconds of action repeated although it's not an adventure game it's closer to that then anything else.
Edit: Jeff just said that! WOW, I should stop posting while watching, it's amazing, great minds really do think a like!

Cool intro kzap. Trine looked amazing enough to check out - thanks for the plug. Love the Potter movies...will definitely check this one out as soon as the stars align and someone can watch the kids for a "date night."

For those of you who weren't around during the golden age of PC adventure gaming, I'm sorry you missed it. It was one of the greatest parts about my adolescence. Monkey Island was near the top of that era for me (as was Monkey Island II), so I hope people check it out. As Jeff said, don't go in with any preconceived notions of progress, how the game should play out, etc. Just enjoy the world LucasArts created, and especially the writing. It is hilarity defined.

To mark the release and TRS review, I'm reverting to my old icon, which is one of my favorite scenes in Monkey Island 2. :)

I'm in the middle of Dan, Alex and Jeff for Merlin, I thought it was pretty good but hated the second episode and did find some of it a little low budget and by the numbers but my brother was I huge fan so I watched it with him and enjoyed it.
I always think stories should never cross medium so if something is written as a book it should stay as a book and if something is written as a game it should stay as a game, I think there can be other stories in that universe made as film but I don't usually like it when they try and directly adapt a book to a film, mainly because when I read a book I think how I would make it as a film and see everything in my head from the camera angles I would use so when someone else directs and it's not what I saw in my head I'm disappointed, even though I'm sure it's exactly what the director saw in his head.

LOL, This apparently what I said:
" Yes -- me -- you directly from my avatar in the form on Kazaa. Anyway on this -- sexist URS to -- did you review -- part of forming. So given up -- Harry Potter franchise at the moment lost room with my good in my opinion. Or say the media game trolling amnesia problem pronouncing that right. And via TV series -- and seven BB CTV series. I thought that was quite good. Anyway I got. My form blocking."
If anyone is wondering (which I no no-one is) my video is based on my old forum avatar because I couldn't find my hat and was in a hurry.

error in the feed name (21.07.2009)

I'm a long time watcher of TRS, but first time writing to the forums.
I just downloaded the latest episode and saw something rather odd:

You are reviewing: "... The Secret of Money Island: Special Edition"
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/6080/trs.png

Well haven't seen the show yet, maybe it is a bank simulator. Probably about the island where all the money went. ;-)

Just to let you know!

More Monkey Island Fun!

Just saw this week’s show and wanted to point out that a bunch of guys from Lucasarts jumped ship a few years back and started Telltale Games. Their first project was continuing the Sam & Max stories (absolutely awesome) but they just recently started a new Monkey Island story as well. It is similar gameplay to the later Monkey Island games and the writing/acting seems pretty top-notch so far. It is being released in 5 episodic “chapters” with one coming out every month. The first just came out a few weeks ago. Check it out! www.telltalegames.com
