Movies
Way back in episode 21, Alex, Dan, and Jeff lost their minds over The Surrogates, a comic book from the new writer/artist team of Venditti and Weldelle, published by Top Shelf. Now, 2 years later, that comic has been been turned into a feature film, starring Bruce Willis. Is the movie equally exciting, or a colossal let down?
The Cohen Brothers have been extremely prolific of late, including their Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men, and last year's Burn After Reading. Their latest, A Serious Man is a much darker film, about a suburban Jew whose life begins to unravel. The guys give A Serious Man some serious consideration.
The Magic Castle
There is as castle, nestled in the heart of Hollywood, that can only be visited by invitation - where every visitor must wear a suit and tie at all times, and where the unexpected lies around every turn. What is this magical castle? Why, the Magic Castle! And thanks to magician and host of Revision3's Scam School, Brian Brushwood, Alex, Dan, and Jeff get a chance to tour its hallowed halls and see what this real-life Hogwarts is like!
Video Games
The Need for Speed series is one of the longest-running and most successful racing franchises, and the newest installment, Need for Speed: Shift introduces a much more realistic "cockpit view". Alex, Dan, and Jeff strap themselves in for one of the most visceral driving game experiences ever.
The latest Mario Bros. role-playing game on the DS has the mustachioed plumbers doing their best impression of Fantastic Voyage, shrinking down and exploring the biology of their nemesis, Bowser. Could Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story be one of the years best games?
Alex, Dan, and Jeff are going to be playing games for 24 hours straight to raise money for Texas Children's Hospital. Please consider sponsoring their efforts to help this worthy cause. Every gift makes a difference in the life of a child. Click here to make a donation.

" Well so we really -- they need the the comment NN and sort of have that have had this sort of like virtual love affair with that does concept. Game. And the trailers Susan -- I was very. " Yeah I thought it was decent as well I'd I didn't see that in a lot it but I thought it was a solid."
" Entertainment film mom you know I think that's -- thing we all really loved loved about."
" Comic was the idea is and how well old flush out those ideas work and I don't think the film. Prioritizes ideas in the same way at the comic did. Prior."
" Ties is action and and moving it to the story in and that's okay because that's kind of what movies before but. I wish the movie had embraced the idea is a bit more and the suspense of The Who done it played out a little better I felt like. They the reveals word didn't land in a very impressive way. It overall. I had an enjoyable time seeing it I I wouldn't say don't you know -- it's about movie at all it just. Didn't live up to the source material in the way that I hoped it would that. Members IA also oh. Or even more so was very disappointed -- com or am very disappointed in the movie I. I I felt it felt very early eighties early ninety's actually be -- Like pre Bruckheimer. Action film and just that and it's we've come so far progress. Being in the way we visualize. Futures. And this felt like the future from -- the future part two. It's one of my favorite dishes that's beyond how we -- So then and still like of the economy was very reminiscent of blade runner it's a no Anwar Amin stars its interest staying in this world. Was none of that that's true and and and yet it and they could mean it's it's and want stories -- I did not feel that way visually or totally. On their work to action sequences and -- me. One was okay. All the facts needed -- more time in the up and I thought well it does seem like they were vacant lot more -- mode making absolutely young versions of which also was a very old school looking -- fact and and I mean if any movie could've benefitted from. Stan Winston. Who's visited Britain may rest in peace but like forty studios I -- they could benefit from Pratt. Practical facts now on is a robot Movielink and yes and I'm assuming they were few and far between. I the -- AA did not do anything just this front from the comic and and knowing that there's a -- to this as well -- next -- comic book why is that yours truly has a quote on the back cover. So I imagine -- reading both of those comments and the back cover and the back cover -- times. Yeah I want -- to coordinate the news around like it's it's on Sunday on high gas HBO. Year you know in to watch it enjoy it in and mean. -- She's a check to see an -- out yeah I'm moving -- moving on. The -- it's so weird how you know weekly -- we review a movie that was like the first movie -- from the director who what was that. -- And yet there we've reviewed movie and is it the first time on the show that we got to review a movie from the actor actor president of two weeks ago he gets me when it's going to be an anyway. Thank you sound I had maybe it was the chicken a girl -- I don't know I didn't know this is -- midtown anyway narrower -- Coen Brothers movie it's more like. Third Coen Brothers movie that we're doing -- minute remaining -- for not even three years at an annual movies which is amazing yeah. I think I don't think we don't exhibit three years and is there a third of their movies. -- So."
" A serious man."
" It is. Slice of life of me yeah I mean basically you why. If follows -- AEA and that you wish. Bob are on who's sort of light phase imploding. As he tries team. Do you live this life imploding and and kind of this in the way that far ago explore is that -- you really like all their films are Fargo is still what those colloquial listens -- that place and that time this is the same way sick 9067. A suburb a suburb of."
" And it's the Coen Brothers so. So from blood simple in the practical man burn after reading. Many may know is crossing and jump around. Automatically accept what did you think of a serious man. This is -- first of all. Love the Coen Brothers and I love them for exactly what you said which is what we mentioned before as we reviewed their towns where there are so. Fascinated and fascinating when they're fascinated with language and it's fascinating to see him deal with -- how people communicate how people's originality is the fact how to communicate. Very specific characters the characters in this film are really spectacular. This is it. -- hard film to love it it is very dark and very depressing. But also old. Very profound in its own -- and has some really interesting things to say. It's not until I walked away from it's an idol I loved but I love the fact that I saw it. It's a film that stayed with me both a great deal over the last week since we saw it. I thought about things that it has a lot to say. And it is so much about the big questions of life which are so interesting to see our deal -- Specifically these filmmakers deal with because they had they Siemens is interesting ponderous guys. Bombed it it'd have it's very dark as I said very depressing not to feel good hit of the summer and if you thought. -- could No Country for Old Men was enigmatic this film is far more so and probably not a film a lot of people who watched the show will enjoy a new but I love the fact that I saw it snapped up but but let me give you comic moments yes you can collect longer but they do of the year over there weren't enough. Yes this movie. I actually actively dislike to this movie pretty did -- com."
" Is it eight bit. You get that great Coen brother and this is also on the -- this huge fan Coen Brothers. You get that great. Characters are so. Defined like with a specific and and and perfect for that time and and the shots are really very you know there's lot of beautiful shots that don't need to be in the movie you know that are the subject of great column by others saying and it. And it really tries to bring that sort of slice of life I just. For me. And there are there really honestly laugh out loud moments I really enjoy the comedy stuff but for me that this story just really foul. Flat from and it. Eight and it is horribly abruptly and and I at all I mean obviously that that was done for a reason -- me personally I it was it was one of those like oh my god I just got hit by something it was like day. -- Okay is -- and go to dinner and lots. And unlike you I didn't save me at all I haven't thought twice about it since I left except ago. Why had I would not tell anybody because he definitely I don't I don't think. You know as one of those movies it was just like look at all this bad stuff happening. Was not gone and and and not in a way that I thought I was sort of new -- so for me was just like. This isn't Louisiana but as our resident Jew. This film I don't I think kind of glossed over how Jewish this movie is is really about the Jewish experience there's a lot away as."
" Much is that fanatically everything is. That there's that -- the cliche of an erotic did you who's worrying about everything. And it is -- life is hard and gets harder -- us that life sucks and and you die right and you and any and it ended. And there's also even in -- in the religion there's this big deal with questioning we question everything in question question question and this movie is about. Questioning without there is -- is connect to win Iraq I definitely connected to any deep way to that stuff you know I -- that feel any Jewish Diego's in his own mind guy like gas. Training this -- it's -- it's like oh my I never see that stuff and you know it's great to see that and the first half of this movie. I've really enjoyed I was like how amen I said Bernard that's I know. Yeah those are some common but then the second half just eating. For me -- bring anything else to the next -- did. I -- a device happens midway through that where it says the first rabbi. I was like why are we out like I got it I got the first like it just sort of however -- at who is -- because this movie had at least two. Mother -- was in those crossings and activities of all time and other others are like just underneath that. And while I like about them exactly what you guys like. And I'd even say that you know filmmakers like Tim Burton you is it feeling you can be advertised as from the mind of Tim Burton. You know right and the Coen Brothers are. It's not. As you can say from the mind of the Coen Brothers it's like. This in the -- other movies have their own mind and -- like this Friday about Tim Burton's world southern konduz where it's like. The world -- part of go you know the world of Miller's crossing you know world -- you know and I thought and remarked we sort of burn after reading which means I felt it was sort of odd they would want to make a movie like that sort of felt. Because it also similar -- doesn't let me at all -- And -- just -- it's it's about something that was caused -- created -- and it included all in the same without anyone you know. --"
" Oh this movie had one of the best trailer is of the year yeah some and I gasoline and."
" And I know I -- what I've really I thought this trailer said everything very eloquently to the movie takes a lot more time I don't know. And in the unaudited net interest I disagree with that anything other than those who didn't think I disagree I I felt like those especially."
" That on that's. Structured talking about what those which were each of the ideas that are expressed by the rabbis or lack thereof. -- expressed within the actions of the filmed too it's sort of like these little things represented. You know the net change in perspective to the one that is talking about and and it really lend an onion very profound way and -- I got a lot of them -- into Sam's and I again."
" it."
" Hey everybody welcome to you that magic castle he may be wondering why. Plus we canceled -- clean up real nice clean up tonight to see what happens if you and that is who wedding and now we know that's a good because we do get invited to. But it would also joined by. The magic -- so Brad Breslin yeah there's as well Scam School is yes premier comes less --"
" Please -- stand could also Matt Patton here who's the advanced manager for the magic castles has graciously offered to give us into -- Of what may be the coolest place on the planet this was day yet."
" I would give my version of what I see in this says this is Dan has -- no way for my hitter is hands mavericks had a vote -- is exclusive place where you have to be in addition to go or be friends with one. I'm not friends of one and oh okay. I don't know. Com until I met Brian that we were as excited to finally put this. Very excited I hear you guys have a lot of excitement around the I think he hasn't been -- we I would imagine every getting imitation you have to be invited him correct yes not just an addition members that we now have associate members who are not magicians happy -- digital -- perhaps."
" I actually they're kind of classified as mentioned should magicians stingy no secrets Heidi you come and love that if you I think I'm I'm."
" Actually on our website WW ended up magic castle that Connie can check out our membership section and find out about associate and just -- why can't we added up to be remembered. What are we go inside -- at the -- another element is really got to get that into. I can't think she does -- does I heard this is what you hear we hear that because there's an -- the same magic word to illustrate what's magic word is either abracadabra. Port open sesame."
" Okay."
" And it's open sesame. I don't."
" This actually does happen I disgusting really weird but this actually does have a very kind of speak easy dive in here like. Fairly behind the scenes closed doors people's party and the movement -- that day I -- enough I think this is what this place was around during -- right when he wasn't ever speech isn't Matt Cassel was."
" Not actually be original mansion it was built so in 1980 financing from -- night and it. Private -- for -- his fiancee earlier wife I'm all ripped through the late thirties. And forties how under presidents wow so it was the largest how mansion in Hollywood at the time yeah."
" He's in 08 I are doing thousands of like why did the we've got to have a right now and then again."
" The two Brothers -- the bill Larson who comes from -- what did you magic and their families their father is actually Harry Houdini personally. Funny wow that's so they saw the building up their father and always wanted to have a private club for magicians and his parents know. They came to renovate the building and that. Over a lot renovation process sob bad. To the state 46 years I every day we got and we never know what no it's gonna be doing and he probably eight years old now and I'm still some hang out -- and making the castle is screens so long it's. What it's become today. I'm."
" This is allowed goes and plays the piano she isn't here right now she's taking her afternoon nap by. Later than -- synergies -- by taking requests for songs talking you through music and having a grand old time it's like craziest thing you'll SAS. But they don't children you'll lose. Everything -- was my brother my brother goes Guns 'N Roses insurer and a -- just started playing it was the craziest thing in the whole baby you don't blow your freaking mind that your bios is the magic -- It's hurricane so this is like one -- we would see magic. This is one of the places you would see magic actually the Cassel started in 1963. Upstairs we have them. Closeup gallery are smaller showroom Burma's ruling and the main -- that's all the the club consists -- Now it's almost 30000 square feet with a thirteen -- series for magicians. Including this one this is something I would like that in my house yes this is something that you normally have in the basement of your house you don't take your parents to you later."
" We Sarah everywhere so this is the -- bar. We have our martini glass down here Friday night's live world class magicians -- more. Lots of fun here associate magician here right."
" Kelly that's very first show them your castle and its -- considered the."
" The holy Grail of the world."

When they were creating magic castle from the mansion into what it is. Now he actually lived upstairs and oversaw all the construction. " So I there's nothing."
" It is my mind has been Milan -- away by magic people did not see. What's it like basically -- all the coolest Slowey took a tour and it wasn't like we can't video different sauce. I do enjoy the tour because they don't even allow them to take pictures now inside the magic aspect not even pictures of the magicians so I don't quite know. -- we got to thank god big is very fundamental thing here at magic he's wired com because it's a privilege if I had no idea how he actually hooked up yeah -- tune into like it if -- like."
" How we want to do is death but then it was off -- those kind of the evening the patrons entered and they kind of opened for business and we weren't allowed to shoot anything. But we do get them dinner just was delicious amazing and see what I mean I just."
" There doesn't always for you guys really joking about. Collecting his vote piano player -- up karma max gates of the sitting in a room hanging out your friends and you'll be talking about. -- Yeah I he made against shaped like rocky years in the analyst son and you hear the rocky theme plan that piano."
" I'm you know conversation with with the piano but ghost get a -- and then I know we wish you can communicate with you is that playing something so. The song titles will be answers to questions it's wonderful amazingly you made him -- we saw."
" All amazing magic with some great a lot of really demanded the comedy magic name was staring those great magic. Then we saw his color sack artists this close up magician yeah."
" I know Mani is stellar nit now on Miller Johnny ace RIA smaller. Yes and -- my. -- remains one of the mind blowing this -- performance is -- anything I had ever listen award winning magician. -- the past the -- that is it is noteworthy magicians get. Every two years they get out and sometimes and sometimes they don't give it out yeah every seven years and there's like three years I don't know. There -- three years but he's won it like twice. As things they don't even give this out and you the only close up magician ever CA was all close up magic so literally we wore a foot and half away from this guy and he didn't we we're here. There -- moments where I wish we -- on tape we were dealt."
" Hang out there saying that the ring fingers I'd take Larry nobody took it out and and I don't I just never did and I was like."
" I just it was CG yeah."
" It's. Crazy to see that on the tour but another was cleared CEO of the reason why we orange seats was because it back. That's the rest bill you opted to hang out is that it's -- like a cool scenes fund you know because Matthews I'll have to be in that. Last -- everyone around you McLaren Jack and."
" my yeah or astronauts. Ask us are optional yeah."
" The need for speed series from the DEA is one as a racing game series that's. Straddles the line."
" Alternate alternately."
" Between really need hard core simulation style racing games. And much more arcade style all sort of fantasy fulfillment racing games we reviewed -- we discussed."
" One of the we -- humans ever uncover -- bit yes. And -- that was definitely more along the lines of you know."
" Action film style chase racing game the new -- need for speed which is called shift. So again we're going to be talking about today and it is definitely. The simulation. Side of of racing games a title game not personally. Don't play."
" Very much and I'm not into your head and not in those kind of games I get in his son Brett randomly every once in awhile. Granting it to them. And it was get my license is like all sorts of crazy yeah and -- Joshua and I got locked -- do we can't remember what it was I don't think it was project dot com. I don't think it was a burn up -- do like. Well you know it was perhaps they had to crashing and burn out certainly in the arcade style which are now we got into one we had to like get your license is for the next. Level -- crash isn't really given. And a now. It's our clients listening for being shipped."
" Our patent simulation style all you didn't. Competing this number of different kinds of races there is these profile points that you -- recruiter co. Kudos from from the project Gotham game where you based on our air underneath my bed in college class. Still it's still gonna it's gonna hurt. The art specific kinds of racing style achievements that you can get points based on an aggressive driving or precision driving. But the big I think coolest feature of this new game is the cockpit view mode which is the deep ball out of the game and it really is the most robust. Way of doing a talk don't know that I've seen yet I think that's kind of the trend in racing and is really putting you. Make you feel like your in the car. Did you like this game did you enjoy it --"
" investors guardians of our planet it was gorgeous. Gorgeous graphics -- won those games -- like. You see it starts to play and you go and I literally had that moment where I was like is this kind of scene. Or a nice chip -- team playing like you women -- you -- my talking it through and yeah it's and it feels like this could either be in Kmart are nodding like act. And then then. -- this game to me is like single. Okay the bread line is there's -- lion may need the best. I'd ever been at plant his garden. Because I don't know I don't race cars so describe this feature so this feature is basically it's this this green arrow and it kind of gives you the best. Most optimal driving -- on the course. And if it's green it's you can accelerate to follow it and as a sex a turn yellow it's okay you should start not. Accelerating its passenger going and then when it turns red it's like you have you going to invest -- you're gonna fly into the bank. And it's a way of expressing. It. How you shouldn't drive attract and I always found. I was like training mode Hamas it is but it's a -- for every track and then it reminds you what you're supposed to be doing and you know I -- They always try to do this like the little mini map like oh here comes -- dog laggard here comes our intern but for the most part I'm gonna do brother to all well. That's like. All common here well and that's likes. You know so it really gets you -- acting up I wanna learn how to do this the best way is Superfund big cars are gorgeous there's a Brazilian on the mountain and I'm sure other you know real simulation race card games have the same -- that this thing does but. I also really like the idea that they could reward you you can progressed through as like I'm gonna do this is technically. Did the best technical way I can do it really trying to avoid cars. -- you know you know what today -- I bumped the car so now -- mr. bonds at Kerr yeah. Yes so I really had about I know you're hurting and on the -- Syria yeah I."
" I like Alex I mean I've similar youngsters the guys -- with a straight up race there is the simulation racers I have. Only I played oh I got really into of crayons. A -- entries no one of them back today and also project Gotham. But then from then on I never I could never get sucked back in and it was just arcade Chris I've played quite if you know. The arcade racers love the need for speed most wanted I think that's one of the best out there. And of course the burn out games. This and by far is no -- it's definitely a 100% in the best simulation rays game ever played. Now it -- as somebody who has played very few days exactly. As somebody needs. The man who plays almost every arcade racer that comes out any deaf they seem like they sort of -- their feet and both pools to make you enjoy this and a new way on the cockpit view as you said is gorgeous it's amazing. That it's like you know some high end cars -- and the faster you go look there -- audio here your levels of year radio were raised opposite that is sounds the same. Well similarly. The cockpit view the faster you go. That that foreground loses focus and it just sharpens up when your windshield he concede. Head. I I -- despite that how awesome was I just got without much work onto the play. -- no cockpit -- just aren't -- round -- rushing does it -- magazine's fastest noted that as this you feel the best speed you can see. Everything com and it was glorious the graphics glory yes that -- what that line with the racing wind dies is. It and it finally allows you to use to feel like a race car driver because it gives you just enough. You know how to deal -- And that way you can think. The way a race car driver thinks of the for the first time when I was in that pack of cars -- burnout where you're just doing our -- stuff to take people -- as a from the other games where you're just in contract you're trying to just avoid -- feels like you're never with a pack of cars and in this game when you're with those packed cars it's like -- it's -- Tom Cruise -- the days of -- what do you want my palms sweaty I've never been. -- square this game I'm squealing teen. My heart is pounding on sweaty."
" But it's not just. If there's an."
" Well I'll bet they are my my birthday yeah. Yeah always but not hot and I think you guys are right and I will reiterate again the three of us not simulation racing aficionados. We are all coming from a very much of a place of not really. Knowing much about this particular genre and we're going to talk about sports. Later on this year and it comes out arms month persona comes out and amazing to see if this game in particular is something or we're just around."
" Dating back -- ran although -- yeah."
" Things let me say I mean I understand again as somebody who doesn't have a lot of these games that that. That that -- fine line is not a unique feature to this game but what is the genius of the scheme that don't know if other teams do -- boy genius. Is that the first thing you do is drive a track and then the gains suggest she you know what -- sample -- of proficiency. So it sets and you are you have just driving skill don't understand. Cut and ended Monday."
" And it would just fine for me because. -- made -- into gains structures on the way to put the line on the road."
" You know turn off technically collision to a certain point where it's like only cosmetic now I had to I had an -- Automatic millionaire game fun and accessible -- mean who is not somebody that can excel in these games out there. You know natural sitting down and I think about it the."
" That is what is -- welcome to me in in a way that a lot of these kinds of games haven't done before this."
" But that's that actually not that that was totally useless. Because and unload the first though you -- talking about I thought it was cool does an actual change is senate and then -- and I did I did it and -- settings and I play efforts on like this is really I was like. Yeah I sucked because I just picked up the mutual and it's been a lot of that later raising game of course I'm gonna second -- and then so I can then go and customize and I think he can customize and drama gossip about. There's just where there's like. I -- don't -- me on the -- He's been dogged you on my first time I touched the controller play raising game then if you go in and I disagree with you wholeheartedly and a half I. There's grass I'd also had a a ton of fun and it was the first type. No game like this that I wanted to keep coming back to play tomorrow and Heineken USA before that I really related to -- that you almost don't like I mean I. I've been NN tolerate or whatever it is but. You said it you'll like -- you said one -- including eighteen not liking racing games because they stress you out too much food sounds like that wasn't a factor with us."
" No then you absolutely and it may -- is because -- such an easy setting that says that the learning now maybe all of a line yes I love being in the pack of guys although. Getting spun and spun out by somebody is still you know from what is expressed a lot of those bright yellow lot of times it worries me analyze the I guess that's that attracts and ended. Manufacturers race where it's like him are all Latin car stop don't -- you and I went yeah. Everybody has zen garden go it's like great all the other game -- wanna talk about is not -- last week in common it is Mario and -- browsers inside story this is the third Mario and Luigi role playing game to come out on the it's from it's from Nintendo obviously but eighty and -- pulled out the dream. And deadly previous two games were some of my favorites on the DS partners in time and superstar soccer I think it's called. And does so these are Mario Luigi platform mean kind of take on the traditional Japanese -- his role playing game. In this game it I think doesn't genius brilliant job of utilizing the two screens because you have. The plot of Mario and Luigi getting sucked inside bows there. -- shrunken down insect inside him so on the bottom screen for most of the game they are -- on in his innards and on the top screen you get. The outdoor view of the browser and you can flip between playing both of those modes. Leveling are getting items all the trappings of of a traditional role playing game but done with that sort of tongue in cheek in -- know. Wonderful way Tom. --"
" Did you enjoy this game as much as I didn't."
" May the everything that's I think it's a brilliant game. Total. Become eyes but Cummings and I had no question not an earlier in the yeah let me. Everything is going about it -- one thing that's like a -- so first thought it's actually kind of funny that like -- that things aren't right at the very talented big thing Nintendo game is as word bubbles and I got a million of whom ever these happen to be funny and well written great localization right translation from -- totally -- not weird exactly. That being said it there's still -- way too many of them and I think and you can't get mom and dad it's like I wanted to just get through done at Baylor gets alone okay. He knows he's got just -- experienced series -- on what guys learn about storytelling because if you if you hadn't shorter and I will want to read them because I know what are you a million -- matter how. How long they could be written by Stephen king and I'm not interest it. -- as a very big bucks. But fans to that I am not black forum being in this a little bit of the puzzle solving. There's -- I didn't get. Super deep in this game so I'm anticipating -- gets extremely difficult it does and that and that creates wonderful challenge that I guess earlier on well there's not as much challenge but it but I can see that oh my gosh like pat. In that time that there's a little bit of a rhythm gaming in the current -- there's a little bit of like so let the leveling up is behind him really dvd."
" Shirts and made sure to add it. Action beats immediate action moments within that turned -- style somewhere most pro playing games you would just kind of wait and -- and select from a menu and how the guy attacked. You literally have to keep jumping in Donna Jean gazing -- I love this kind of role playing game I."
" It it is phenomenon mean the only good thing the reason why didn't also have a blast. Is that I really did have fun but act. I -- as much fun as I thought the quality of the game was. These I don't love this milieu O I was sort of -- I don't I don't love the Mario universe say I'd I wanted to you're dead inside to love that one if he'll let cool like hey it's so in this world this so. On court TV in hand and wonder."
" youthful and wonderful let's look hazard to Australia. Alex you'll notice I'm. Some wonderful music -- so -- team is making."
" The water food and so -- missing game one I picked this up for some of us are surprised it has -- CNET does a guy that's like. You play a level of you know sides Goler is as bows or anyplace stroller in guts as Mario and Luigi is what I anticipated when Dan Anthony's and as that I would ever like and I aren't school and -- in Zain is on and it. This game is early Final Fantasy. Having sex with super mare now and why Ariel is videotaping but for kids but for. And is it the first stop. So much fun that is at least for me I had a blast I loved -- this switching back and for the ping pong back and forth. The writing is hysterical. It nailed it RPG for me I'm not a big Japanese RPG -- thumb. But for some reason the leveling up above the big characters and the different abilities in south. And maybe just this story I can get into it a little bit more because sort of familiar -- Mariano. They they actually did something which I would like to see. Acting and then rose implement which is here is -- this is how you W stats are leveling your one little room. Is there is that you liked to gamble a bonus on him ingenious. I hits horse a couple of times out like. Yeah and slightly in the big things this is so so good and in learning how to manage your items also all of things that I believe people love about. Japanese at RBJ's that I just can't get into enough to -- to love about them. I was able -- that as his great migraines Superfund."
" I love that and it really is he said deep in there and it really is it's a big long and a fun game and I had I can't wait to play more but I am I -- it. Wonderful looking game on the DS. You don't between last week thanks remarks and this week playing this game. I'm reminded how much I love my DS you know we've we've been. The hand held space -- has been dominated the last few months with my iPhone. -- I forgot how. It's believed DS can be and this game really reminding me. Though the fact you constantly getting new power ups that do new uninteresting things you know you're turning your -- sideways and blowing into the migrant -- Like all kinds of crazy stuff. I think this is one of the best DS games ever I think it's better than the two previous. Prequel to this of the same style because of the doing the browser elements are so much fun he's feel you feel much more powerful when he does and he's got an interesting com specials. Exactly and and that they're going inside him stuff really works and really is fun it's."
" It yes there are those things those trappings of of of Nintendo games that are still annoying with you know yes I -- wish I could skip this some of those things are still there and it's annoying but. Overall a really fun great game which sits."
" You know stylist involved with something on us as all about that's -- disastrous by -- he uses lots and there's little meaning you 300 million. And again the only ones it's your right but but anyway."
" But knows I was watching the you'll bids. Like Mario Luigi did you catch -- these by the idea out normally -- platform is this your one guy as a jump here yet to jump. You've got -- T buzzer did the same time and always playing with."

In a future when Aaron mankind. Has built robots. To you go around in their lives for them beaten. Surrogate surrogate surrogate way. Some people say in these extend chairs they're called and they just yet -- it's not it's not just it's not like that movie strange days where they just saw the memory or whatever it's like you really are stealing experiencing. That. -- And you are like if you're not forget arranged for instance that. Ask Jack out comment and and the movie stars Bruce well less as a detective. Who's on.
" This is allowed goes and plays the piano she isn't here right now she's taking her afternoon nap by. Later than -- synergies -- by taking requests for songs talking you through music and having a grand old time it's like craziest thing you'll SAS. But they don't children you'll lose.

A theory have a soft towel that Dante Powell thought it was a very expeditions in the early nineteen hundreds. He had a ten dollar and he stuffed it -- here and it's unfortunate timing our actual all of the actual hello. How does the here we are in the Houdini seance room. How little money actually actually -- sales this year coming in contact with the -- Houdini. Our comment that -- is derived from a -- Houdini seance or some place here in Hollywood this on top of the nickel -- hotel. I'm happy that on October 31 nineteen. 26. Everything in the room is -- is that everything from -- his original. Metamorphosis from behind -- player -- the -- Well that's his metamorphosis. Have you straitjacket many of his handcuffs we have his original note can escape here wow -- Win that's the actual -- hey -- Wow he has stories beyond belief. That's -- it's."
" Her home. And best helps protect human health care."

" It's so cool this place is enormous. I know that just doesn't anything's gonna in this increasing a promising help --"
" Ted Thompson comes this. You're Erica entrance of the parlor -- to -- education and we have an homage to die Berman also known as the professor. He was arguably one of the most famous closer magicians ever -- created a lot of the card tricks coin tricks. Couple vault routines that you see today actually. In during the 1960s. When they were creating magic castle from the mansion into what it is. Now he actually lived upstairs and oversaw all the construction. You really didn't have a family except for the magic community so -- always wanted to be here he passed away 1992. -- age of 92 actually. And down but he's actually a -- and in terms. Yeah. This is various forever just like you wanted to -- console. This is from neat this is from their Disneyland attraction this is the original manager Walt Disney sought to create the haunted mansion. Traction. So this hand. Only."
" Laser wolf look like they're."
" Easy and -- over here we -- magic classroom where we have classes four nights a week. I'm you can start for beginners and go all the way through pass and then become a magician member of the council action drama. That's cool stuff over there. This is WC fields' original trick pool table but he isn't the Ziegfeld follies and many of his films and -- and it's so cool. We're gonna quarter we have -- car back. -- original atomic time that Johnny Carson's tonight show character was based off wow and also the character and moving day. I don't have sold it. So -- She. Could wax figure needs hairdo they're very badly -- She -- I've heard classes here you can actually set up on our website and come take classes you actually get temporary membership players classes at castle into the will be in the club then. You know get fresh nice and learn from other magicians mom --"
" Critical thing that's ever really feel that I have. Immediately I don't -- he's -- sign up for classes and -- making an -- nearly hanging at the DEA clubhouse and chat with all airlines. Yeah but the thing is going until. I'm from 7 o'clock until 1215 everything -- thank you so much like very much for that I'm just really vision I think the united aspects there."
" That would -- an awesome very clever yeah."
" I never ready before you drain and we do want to thank our sponsors such -- sponsors as discourse as news.com. Also Squarespace dot com I think -- a bit -- a couple times. -- couple thousand times anyway Squarespace is an amazing. Episode 132: WYSIWYG Ninja - Surrogates, A Serious Man, Need for Speed: Shift, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and The Magic Castle
We loved The Surrogates comic, does the film live up? Is the Cohen Bros' A Serious Man too serious? Does Need for Speed: Shift blow the doors off? Bowser's Inside Story: one of the DS' best? Plus, a real Magic Castle!

Just finished watching epic 132! And the ending was so appropriate for me cause it's 1:32 am and I'm about to get some winks for the night, haha. Thanks Alex, that was so kind of you! :D Also, the little puff of smoke got quite the laugh out of me. Not sure why, just totally surprised me and it was awesome. Thanks to Mike for that little bit of imagination at work!
I think I feel the same way about Surrogates. It was decent, but didn't live up to the comic. I couldn't put my finger on it, but Dan nailed it for me in that the mood and tone of the movie was different. What happened to the noir? What happened to the suspense? They practically give you the bad guy not even half way through the movie. The chase scenes were alright though.
And I can't finish this post without mentioning the EPIC intro. You guys actually pulled it off. A WHOLE NEW INTRO! WHAT?! Epic. I also love that you guys are willing to leave in the little mistakes in the intro's intro. Gives it so much character. Just keep it natural, that's the way we like it! Epic epic epic! Thanks guys for another week well worth the wait! :D

I don't even know if there are really that many moments where Dan has broken the show like he did for Surrogates and Black. Maybe a few more, but not tons. Sounds like it would be a difficult task. ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?!
MONTAGE MAN! HEEELLP!

New intro didn't fail to impress, awesome job.
Last week I saw that the prince album was an icon on the desktop of the email, and I thought that it'd be really cool if week to week it changed. As we see now it didn't, but I think it'd be cool to see a different album one of the guys is listening to just for fun.
Also, when do we get to see the Comic and TV backgrounds!? Next week there's gotta be tv for at least True Blood and Hung. Maybe Dollhouse season opener?

The whole Magic Castle part is kind of similar to a completely rad bar here in Milwaukee. The bar here is called The Safe House and has a spy theme.
First off it is kinda of difficult to find the place. You have to go into a back alley downtown and look for a door that says "International Exports." There is absolutely nothing about the look of it that suggests it is a bar. Once you go in that door you are in a tiny room with a guard. The guard asks for the password and if you give it a book shelf moves to let you into a long passage. At the end of the passage a stone wall moves to let you into the bar. If you don't know the password you have to do an initiation test. It is always something embarrassing like hula hooping or something like that. The kicker is there is a hidden camera and a TV that shows what you are doing in the bar. Once you pass it and finally get in, everyone that was in the bar watching you cheers and embarrass you further once you walk in.
Once you are inside there is a ton of places to explore in the bar. The only secret I have been able to find so far is the secret exit. In the way back if you go into the phone booth and enter a 3 digit code into the phone the back wall of the booth opens up and takes you through a creepy underground passage to get out.
So if any of you end up in the Milwaukee, WI area for any reason, definitely ask around to find the place.

Great show as always. I watch the show when I get home from work even before I touch my TIVO. I'm shocked that none of them were into sim-type racing games. The arrows used in NFS Shift looked almost identical to those in Forza 2 - which probably wasn't even the first game to use them (Jeff mentioned them not being new). They mentioned they will be playing Forza 3 shortly. I would like to suggest that they find a racing wheel for it. I built a base out of a piece of 2X10 and some 2X4s that's wide and high enough to slide an office chair under and it plays about as well as an arcade racing machine. I can't go back to racing with a stick now. Although I find playing arcade-style racers like Burnout is better with a standard controller. A standard controller is better for a third-person perspective, but why play a sim if you're going to do that? I would also like to suggest that they check out the online auction house in Forza. People are doing some amazing artwork on the paint jobs. It might take a while for people to get going on that though, unless you are able to import paint jobs from Forza 2. Anyway, love the show and hope the guys develop an addiction for the sim side of racing games. I played a decent amount of the first Gran Turismo on the PSone, then pretty much didn't touch another sim racer until they had a combo sale on Forza 2 and the MS wheel. It has turned out to be the most satisfying racing experience I've had as a gamer.

For the love of God
*hater pants are on*Dan, please stop saying "um" as every other word. Take a speaking class, go to Toastmasters or something. You have insightful things to say, but is so distracting to wade through the pauses and "ums" every time you open your mouth.
